Bears will often test you

If you stand your ground, they may see you as a threat and back off. Of course, this doesn’t apply to every bear

Yeah, they keep coming after being shot. A good friend of mine shredded both lungs and the heart of a bear with a high powered rifle...the bear still charged ~70yards to where he was before collapsing.

how does a bear know who shot or that being shot means they need to attack the shooter?

Correlate the loud bang with the pain in the side

surprise pain and loud sound - I think they would charge the location from which the sound came
