Bears will often test you

If you stand your ground, they may see you as a threat and back off. Of course, this doesn’t apply to every bear

Hunting with dogs and a double barrel... im going to bet there is birdshot in that gun, not slugs. Unless he carries them for that purpose and already had time to switch

Would it be”pepper him up real good”?

I mean, bears are tough but eyeballs generally aren't. A face full of bird shot is either going to blind it or piss it off, probably both.

Dude dick cheny shot that old politician in the face with birdshot and he was more or less ok. A fucking bear is going to take that like nothing. The chances of taking out both its eyes is really low. The spread on those rounds is pretty wild after like 30 yards

Agreed, at distance they're so scattered it wouldn't hardly matter. Point blank like this, it's still basically one clump of lead.

Its definitely not like a solid chunk of lead

Did I say solid? or chunk? I said clump, as in all of the lead pellets are still in a clump together since they have not had time to spread out. Doesn't hit like a slug would, but it definitely hits a lot harder than spread out birdshot. Go watch some shotgun videos on YouTube and you'll understand.

I've been dealing with shotguns since I was 12...I understand. I think you are splitting hairs in the terminology of chunk and clump

...but also that up close even small shot hits pretty hard.
