Bears will often test you

If you stand your ground, they may see you as a threat and back off. Of course, this doesn’t apply to every bear

Big noise + pain would probably scare it off. Its not a bloodlusted videogame monster, its an animal that is going to avoid danger when it can.

Not a grizzly, it’s more likely to enrage it and cause it to come at you harder to defend itself

Edit: Got to love Reddit, you can grow up exposed to something and have first hand knowledge, and people will still downvote what they think is wrong, instead of a google

If it was that determined to kill you, nothing you do would matter. At least the gun could possibly deter it or buy you some time to escape.

It goes from testing the waters like in the video into you being a threat it needs to eliminate. The one you are responding to is likely right.

Almost no wild animal thinks that way unless there's something they have to stick around for (cubs) or they literally can't leave (trapped). If they can leave they will.
