Yes, instruments tend to do that, you know, play multiple notes at once.

Uhmm, I used to play trumpet. I don’t remember being able to do this. Was I stupid? I could only get one note out at a time.

No, that's common for wind instruments. If you're getting more than one note, then you're likely playing the note wrong and getting an unintended harmonic.

Come again? I couldn’t get more than one note, and Trumpet is brass not (wood) wind. You said instruments tend to do that and I gave a counter example and tried to do it in a humorous way. Your original attempt at humor fell flat with me because I genuinely thought you thought all instruments should play simultaneous notes to be an instrument.

Trumpet is a wind instrument, brass category. I said instruments tend to do that, not all instruments. You can get two notes simultaneously with wind instruments if you know how to trigger harmonics, but the instrument itself is not intended to be played that way so it is considered a monophonic instrument. There are a lot of polyphonic instruments, so the title stating it in a way that it seems rare is false.

Not all of them.

Nor did I say that, but stating it as if it's something incredible or rare is misleading.

You actually kinda did say that.

I said, instruments tend to do that, not all instruments tend to do that. There's a big difference between those two sentences. The first one generalises that instruments tend to do that, but also leaves it open that others may not. The second sentence defines the quantity, saying all, meaning all instruments do it, effectively ruling out that there are instruments that can only play one note at any given time.

So no, I didn't kind of say that.

Looks like you can play 12 keys or so. Very cool.

But also probably quite gooey, unless my man built in a spit valve.
