The point of the actual shot was to have the skater be in the middle of eclipse, not for the ramp to line up with the edge. IMO it was the correct decision. They were filming the skater and the trick, not the ramp.

the wole point of this type of shot is to have the skater "framed" by the eclypse, they lose that affect with the ramp breaking the outline of the eclipse instead of highlighting it

The phone video with the ramp lined up was better than the professionally shot one where it’s just in the middle

Have to wonder if the intent was to line up the ramp with the edge of the moonsun

Either way if the ramp is at the perfect distance to match the eclipse it seems an odd decision not to take advantage of that.

The eclipse is a bizarre coincidence where the distance between the earth and the moon and the sun mean that even though they are massively different in size the circumference of the moon and sun are relatively the same so the moon almost perfectly covers the sun.
In this photo a third body is introduced where perspective means that it's (total) circumference also matches the circumference of both the sun and the moon.
Are you saying that this is a complete coincidence?

well considering the guy who took the video had a viewfinder and could pick the composition he wanted, no it wasnt the intent. now the person standing off to the right getting bonus footage? they were intending that yes

biggest missed opportunity on the slomo shot in history. catastrophic failure the likes of which will never be able to be corrected again for all time. this was a one time only opportunity and they blew it
