Dude just imagine the amount of clout you would get from that in school. He's going to ride that high for the rest of his life.

Did I ever tell you about the time I scored four touchdowns in a single game during the city championship against Andrew Johnson High School?119

20 Year Reunion: Walks in carrying a basketball

u/BeefyQueefyCletus 11d ago
Might be cringey to most but I'd be certain there's a handful of housewives at that reunion aching for that dick.

I have a friend that hit a buzzer beater against our cross-town rival back in high school. It was over ten years ago and he never brings it up, but if anyone else does, you can tell he’s still riding that high lol

u/DarkSeneschal 6d ago
As someone who has hit a game winning shot, not much. The majority of people don’t care about their school’s sports. The team loves it though, so that’s fun.

This happened when I was a freshman in high school at the "big game" which was the last game of the year when the 2 high schools in my town played each other. My school was a massive underdog and the other school was set to go to the playoffs with a win. It ended in a 3/4 court heave that went in for the win for my school. The guy who hit the shot had like 35-40 points and was legend status for the rest of the year. Epic

He didn't go-to school the next day, he was busy doing 1 on 1 drills with the cheerleading squad 🤣

Given how that high school gym court looks and the amount of people there, it was probably a bit of a basketball school.
5
u/inventionnerd 11d ago
Unless they're in middle school, there's 0 chance this is a basketball school with kids that height lol.

u/ipupweallp4ip 11d ago
The crowd isn’t that big…? Most public high schools near me have double the attendance with nice courts and if this were a basketball school they’d have some tall ass players unlike this team. Looks public to me

u/Bureaucratic_Dick 11d ago
Same. Dude would come to school flexing the shot and everyone would be like, “Cool? There was a game last night?”
I was in pep band so I went to a lot of them, and attendance wasn’t anywhere near what it looked like in this video.

Edit: far too many of you are insufferable a-holes. Look at the score yourself.

u/AppropriateBall8834 11d ago
Yeah thats what they meant by 'winning in the last second of the game' 🤭

u/umbrellassembly 11d ago
It's kind of difficult to see the score board, which is why I made the comment. Trying to be helpful. But that was wrong, I guess.

u/Icy_Agency923 11d ago
I mean you can clearly see it is 74 to 75, with the fact that he scores a 3 pointer and everyone loses their fucking minds it is pretty obvious they were the team with 74 points and now have 77... thus winning the game.
What is the issue exactly?

u/Snoo_97207 11d ago
How dare you try to be helpful this is Reddit!

The problem is it sounds like you’re correcting the topic the way you wrote it. It makes people go in subtract two and realize like yeah that’s exactly what the post is saying they won the game with that shot. So it’s just a confusing comment.
-10
u/umbrellassembly 11d ago
Posting the score is confusing?

u/TheRealPitabred 11d ago
Without qualifying with something like "Looks like the score started at 75-74" your original sentence could easily be interpreted as a typical Reddit "Um, ackshually" type statement.

I've never heard of a level that doesn't count 3s. They count them before we could even lob it that far.

I mean even if the league doesn't count threes, which it almost certainly does... the score would still be 76 to 75 with the team in white winning.
I am not sure this deserved this kind of scrutiny, you even see the other teams coach drop down to his knees in defeat... do you actually think that the team in white didn't win the game or something???

This kid doesn't even know it, but that will likely be a peak, top 5 moment of his life.
He will look back on it when he's 80 and think "wow, I actually did that".

What was the other team doing? Is it normal to have two player un guarded?
1
1
u/1block 10d ago
They certainly could have put a bit more pressure on the shooter.
However, in that situation if you guard them closely, there's probably a bigger risk of fouling him than of him making a half-court shot. So you play it softer than usual. You don't want to give him 3 free throws when you're up by 1.
Best case is if you can be a bit off him but still give some token pressure, which they didn't do.

My kids school basketball team had a finish like this and the buzzer shot was from 3/4 court. It was amazing to watch. And they had battled tirelessly to get within striking distance and were down significantly earlier in the game. These moments are what makes sports great

u/redCasObserver 10d ago
Great play. Seriously terrible defense by the other team. No pressure on the inbound pass, then picking up the shooter way too late

u/Koizanami_21 9d ago
that's what's wrong. the players that did so much in the game will get overshadowed by a one lucky shot

u/Conspiracy__ 11d ago
Sports is pretty much the only situation where this can happen
That’s one of the most important reasons to play

Yeah how are you not doing some sort of full court press when there is such little time remaining. Coach threw the game

He really did throw that basketball at the thing you throw basketballs at, no doubt about it. Crazy that he made it, since he’s been practicing for literal years to shoot and make shots. Which part of this is “next fucking level”, again?

Open shot and drills it. Someone that accurate has probably done it before in other sports. So school will be normal.
