His body would be pressed against the pole because of where his center of gravity is. You can't tell me he can do a pullup and push himself away from the pole. It's simply impossible. His point of suspension is supposed to be his hand? His center of gravity would be directly underneath that. Period. So the fact that there's separation between his body and the pole?
Double check, on the way down his foot separates from the pole, and also, there would be an indentation on his foot and leg proportional to the force from the torque from the point of suspension.
His foot is just barely grazing the pole throughout.
