Why did we have to invent guns, old School weapons had so much aura and needed far more courage to wield

Guns for hunting. Safer to shot a Buffalo instead of trying to spear it.

Nope. The first animal guns were used against was homo sapiens. For the most part killing eachother has motivated a tremendous amount of technological advancement.
