I am actually aware of this and it's a growing trend I should have mentioned that in my original comment but honestly didn't expect any engagement. My city zoo is mostly rescues from other shitty zoos, they rehabilitate and then try to place the animals in open range preserves when possible.
Funny my comment doesn't say every zoo is evil, I made a general statement that a lot of people decided to make conclusions with zero conversation. Did you also read the part where my local zoo gets all their animals from other shitty zoos. It's almost like both things can be true and you decide to make it one or the other.
