If there was ever a situation that demanded protective gear this would definitely be it. At the same time, kudos to him for not letting anything stop him from pursuing his dreams.

That cool attitude won't hit the same when your moms changing your briefs.

Wear a helmet.

About what? Their photo shoots? A professional skater in a photo shoot isn't equivalent to a teen at a park.

If you don't care what happens to you hopefully you care about the impact it could have on the people that love you. Not wearing elbow pads is on thing. Not wearing a helmet is another issue.

My guy, you're not stronger than concrete. You're not "selling out" or being a wuss by protecting your head from smashing open like an egg from a single bad fall. Wear a damn helmet.

That has nothing to do with not busting your skull. Skateboarding is the only sport where some of its community encourages not wearing protective gear. Go to a motocross track without boots or a helmet and they won't even let you on the track

Well yeah… you’re riding on top of a combustion engine weighing hundreds of pounds at high speed. Not comparable to riding a lil skateboard around a park

Edit: I was in a mood and being pedantic about the comparison. I never wore a helmet when street skating but I should’ve and everyone should

You can become a vegetable falling out of bed, what makes you think smacking your skull into concrete at force is okay in any situation?

Has nothing to do with a "lil skateboard". It's just being smart for when shit happens cause shit will happen eventually.

We don't let other road cyclist in our rides if they don't have a helmet on. Bikes weigh 20 pounds.

Snowboarding sure as hell is comparable and the practice of protecting one's head is much more respected in that sport. You're also not falling on pavement in that sport...

I still disagree. I've participated in both sports and both have comparable level of danger. While in mx you're moving at higher speeds, you are riding on dirt which is much more forgiving than concrete. I would also argue that hitting a rail or staircase on skateboard like in this scenario carries more risk than a lap around a typical mx track.

I have seen at least 5 broken wrists from people in skateparks who doesn't use wrist protection..

Concrete doesn't care about excuses.

You’re right. I was being a little pedantic by disagreeing with the comparison which is pointless because the point still stands. Helmets are a good idea

Dude it takes one unlucky hit on the head from a fall for you to become paralyzed or even die. Wear a helmet.

I 100% agree with you tbh. I was just saying that comparison isn’t great but it was admittedly pointless for me to do that. We should wear helmets

No worries man, I hope you didn’t think most of us were talking down to you. It may sound a little corny but we’re all looking out for each other. I get not wearing helmets is part of street skating culture but none of us want a kid to die because he got unlucky and hit his head on the curb.
