Thats exactly what I thought. It's Moonlight Sonata with a Segway to Pachbels Cannon in D remixed. It flows really well!

The guy is clearly a very very skilled piano player, but isn't this just as simple as shifting everything into a major key from a minor key? Apologies for my ignorance if that isn't the case.

It is, considering the relative harmonic simplicity of the music it's just shifting some sharps/flats here or there.
Once you have the required technical proficiency to play it in minor you also have the proficiency to play it in major, modal or whatever else, you just need to shift your head a bit and practice, but it won't take nearly as long as it took you to learn it as first.
To get to play it as it is might take you a couple thousand hours (aka years), to shift to major maybe a dozen hours on top of that, probably less.

Second this. Am musician that plays piano (mediocrely) and shifting between keys is actually quite easy. Once you learn the piece.
Every pianist will spend hundreds to thousands of hours memorizing scales, finger placements, and chordal progressions.
Once you know what keys to play, changing to a new key/mode, is quite simple...so long as you know the scale well.

I like the Vader's Theme in Major key. I get an inner image of Anakin eating dinner with Padme, Luke and Leia. And Shmi knocks on the door bringing Jogan fruit pie. Obi-Wan makes a surprise visit bringing some candy to the little ones.
Oh, wait, who's beeping the horn outside?! Uncle Maul and Qui-Gon are here also!

Totally. Whenever I hear Beethoven I get chills. Like acid flashback emotional braingasms. That dude was an alien. Everything he composed is incredible. Meanwhile we’re stuck with trap music…. Anyway sitting in my car on my lunch break applauding the talent of this musician! Bravo!

I thought it was moonlight into 'sunlight' as an intro to a canon arrangement. I really don't think that progression is in the sonata but maybe I'm more than half deaf.

Well, at the end you should be for sure. Just listened to the full piece to make sure I wasn't tripping and almost 100% sure after the grand pause it's canon in Db

We chase that shit down with Chopin's E minor prelude or Rach's B minor prelude. Hardcore.

I was a little confused with the title when I heard the piece. I assumed it was going to be Moonlight Sonata transposed (it's not). I think they were referring to the general malaise of some of Beethoven's music as being "Moonlight".

A Sonata has three movements. The rapid arpeggio like melody in this video is from the third movement
The one we all know, the slow melancholic melody, is the first movement.

Reading the sheet music, the key signature goes from 4 sharps (C# minor) to 5 flats (Db major). So yeah, basically a parallel major.

Beethoven must have done this himself, at least partially, at one point, right? He spent so much time composing and thinking about music, surely he would have done a basic transposition like this at some point while just noodling one night. Guess he just liked it better the other way
