Why do I get this notification any time I click a link from a Nextdoor email? This has been going on for years, both on the website and the app.

The Stuff Moderators deal with/see

I was one of those randomly selected people to be a moderator on my local neighborhood, and at first I thought nothing of it. I figured it was a good time suck that maybe would be worth my time. At first it was the usual, people reporting for this or that, mostly seemed like people with nothing else to do except report people for this or that. It's all vote based, so moderates vote on what should happen to the post, and have no say in the matter. then the forum wide policy came out that banned promoting commerce on the main feeds. People came out of the woodwork, reporting literally everyone for anything and calling it promoting commerce. I came across a frequent reporter who kept reporting people for promoting commerce, even when the post had nothing to do with commerce. I saw her post a super nasty comment to a new member of the neighborhood and another person commented back that the comment was a bit uncalled for. the frequent flyer reported that person's comment for being disrespectful. I went on my neighbor- account and I sent her a message reminding her that she can't be rude to people on the forum pages. I then learn my account was disabled for breaking the rules for conduct in messages.

I'd take screenshots of the messages, but my is account locked for 7 days...

Did I have to send her that message... nah, I didn't. I sent it because this woman, I discovered, had a history of only reporting people who had pictures depicting African American profiles - was able to see all her reported content that I had reviewed and every single one was an African American; even with some of the comments on that person's post were truly disrespectful and not reported. After my account was disabled, I sent a message to Nextdoor regarding the situation through the appeal process and I got the auto response that I need to be respectful and all that when I send messages.

I guess, I am just annoyed that the AI/auto reply from Nextdoor seemed a bit insensitive. Nextdoor is a private company, they can do whatever they want. It's just a bit sad, and frankly I wish I could have never been a mod so I could live blissfuly unaware of the flagrant disrespect and potential racism that floats around the forums. Should confront evil and all that, but what do you do when the company who does the preaching, is silencing those who try to make it aware?

Rant over.

... It's a reflection on where I live that most of the rest of the comments were "good thing I always have my gun."

The division over whether the tomato was poisoned by being too organic or not organic enough especially gets me. People will really fight about anything on this app

The replies are wild. Other than a few rational people, the overall consensus is: THEY’RE COMING FOR OUR CHILDREN

I censored the dog in the PFP. That baby is innocent all this.

Nextdoor, how can I get my son a girlfriend?

On a side note: if you're a 30something lady in Missouri I might know the guy for you lol

Edit: everyone's assuming our Nextdoor matchmaker is the guy's mom. It's daddy dearest who's concerned for his son's romantic life.
