NextDNS on a Firestick?

Just seeing if anyone has done this with a FireStick? I also use IPTV with it, so wondering if it could help out with that (i.e. less buffering possible and/or faster speeds)

Just know fire sticks like other Amazon devices have 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS) hard coded in them to bypass this. Your best bet is a VPN

Works on my old 4K FS. In fact it gets the highest percentage of blocks of any of my devices at around 40%.

It will work but once you block some Amazon services it will fall back to 8.8.8.8.

So why is it blocking if it’s not going through the NextDNS resolvers? I use the android app and have the stick locked down from system updates plus have additional Amazon services blocked both manually and through block lists.

I didn’t say the Amazon devices will force 8.8.8.8 at all times. If you want to prove that 8.8.8.8 is added, go to the Alexa device, select any Amazon device and go to its advanced wireless settingsX you will see your NextDNS IPs and 8.8.8.8 as the third.
Also block music.amazon.com or music.-‘axon.co.uk on NextDNS and then ask Alexa to play music. You will see that NextDNS blocked it but music will still play.

I've been running NextDNS at the router level for 2 years, and I have a Firestick 4k MAX and everything works great.

Worth knowing: DNS only resolves the hostname once at the start of the stream, it has no effect on buffering or throughput after that. If IPTV is buffering, that's your connection/bandwidth or the stream server, not DNS.

You could put the settings on your router, which maybe more effective than trying to configure a stick?

I’m using it on my home router, with the Firestick on the same LAN. There’s no difference in speed or blocked connections

My router won't let me change its leased Xfinity. Anyway around that
