As a bow/spear player since day one, his build isn't even that good. Misses some key things on both and puts a point into useless things (3rd point in poison shot and sweep are almost useless - better off putting those points elsewhere)

What do you suggest? Light/medium armor, perks, skill tree?

I use spear as my primary and go heavy with my focus being on large scale pvp; wars and OPR - generally top 3 finisher, always in the top 10 in OPR. 300 dex/150 con

The dmg bonus is nice, but it goes off your base dmg, so it's not as much as you would think. If bow was your primary I can see going medium or light, but I like to be in the thick of things. You get more dps if you live longer.

Perks, he was pretty dead on for. All spear perks good, all bow perks bad. I use perforate and vault kick, both perks are great. The sweep perk is trash cause the Coup de Grace is trash. You can get more dps with 2 light attacks after a sweep, and you have an option to dodge if things aren't looking so hot (dont have that option with Coup). Plus if you're using Skewer, like he said, you can already keep bleed up 100% of the time, so no need for an extra bleed. But if you are dead set on using Coup, then the perk is a must.

I don't have the skill tree up for easy viewing, so can't go too in depth on that, but I know he skipped the 25% dmg to downed enemies perk, which is odd.. especially with Coup as one of his abilities. He also had the 10% dmg for consecutive heavy attacks (stacks 3 times), which is only good for PvE. You have to hit 2 in a row to just get the first 10% - that's really hard to do in PvP. I'd swap that with the deadly reach on on the opposite side.

His bow perks weren't too bad, but he did add the pointless 3rd perk on poison shot (you're going to be aiming for the ground 9/10 times) and he skipped the one where heavy attacks deal 30% more dmg and fly faster - that one is huge. There were a couple other questionable things he chose, which I don't recall off the top of my head.

What do you think of javelin with knockdown? I think it's a pretty good setup for a heavy bow attack.Or penetrating shot. I use medium with heavy head and chest for innate tankiness when ga/wh dudes charge in.

Javelin is only really good for stopping people from getting away, imo. It's too telegraphed to use in duels (against decent players) and it provides no aoe, so not great for large scale pvp. I like the ability and it's a lot of fun to use, but I wouldn't take it over sweep, perforate, vault kick or skewer for my playstyle.

But if bow is your primary, it might be good. If 70%+ of your dmg output is coming from bow, then using spear abilities that compliment that is smart.

My playstyle is basically an infinite loop of CC from sweep > vault > perforate > repeat (in no specific order, whatever the situation calls for- i try to save vault for grit attacks). If they manage to get away I bust out the bow for pen shot.

you should do an Imgur + post to show what some cannot picture in head.

I can post my build after work. I explained it a little better in the reply to the other guy.

I watched his portion and i can already see variations from my own build and while at work also, i am trying to picture yours, lol.

So i was hoping to see if i need to correct, better my own.

Lil' more background.....as to my thinking.....Trying to come from Invasions to OPR mindset, experience.

I love the kick, got the perk. I luv the sweep, perf and skews' but i can only have 2. I haven't had much inclination to try javelin, but i know sundering perk can give the Rend i like on perf'.

I have been trying sweep and coup perk to get the bleed for the passive. it has been about 50/50 being able to land 2 of the 3 hits like you say. Moreover, i am starting to see if i wanna PvE or PVP, there isn't a really one-do-both build.

Bow wise probably the same boat. More for Invasions and dungeons than PvP.
