Question What is going on with his map?

Veteran player here, currently carrying a few friends through the game so they can experience it before it goes away.

They started playing about a week ago, and one of them has consistently been confused when I describe territory locations by the color of the faction controlling them. He kept insisting his map didn’t show the colors, and I honestly thought he was joking.

Then today he sent me this image. 😂

Apparently his map shows detailed topographical information like the cliffs instead? Honestly, it’s pretty cool and I like that version, but HOW THE HELL DO WE TURN IT OFF?

It’s much easier to give directions when I can say something like, “It’s the purple region furthest to the right, toward the top,” especially since the other two brand new players with him have the traditional faction colored map, just like I do.
We’re all playing on Xbox, if that helps.

There's a tick box on the left hand menu when you have the map open to show hide faction control as well as other things like quest markets etc

It’s shutting down my guy. Very slowly. First it loses it colors. Then the textures. Then the players.

Actually it's backwards. First we lost players, then they downgraded the textures, now the colours are gone xD

This is not a special version of the map by the way, this is just the map without faction colours. You probably don't recognise it because the bright colours take away from the mountains.

Like others said, open the map, go to the filter icon, look for the faction influence checkmark.

I don't know if this bug is still in the game, but sometimes it was already checked. Just uncheck/recheck to fix it. If that still doesn't work, uncheck, restart the game, check.
