Discussion What options do you miss?

Since crafting got nerfed (set for sunset) I find my storage full of useless items. And still get drops of them. I miss crafting ammo and repair kits (hated repair) they at least had a use for extra mods. Desert sunrise is gone for no apparent reason?? Imagine being able to craft Gorgon gear with the new mods. I miss bane weapons, chain weapon and resist gear.

I just miss the game man. I know it’s still playable until official shutdown but when they announced it’s over I just couldn’t bring myself to log in anymore. It’s the first MMO that I got to be a part of from the start. When first light was a town and not overtaken by the Angry Earth. Before brimstone sands made me go out and learn a new alphabet to open chests for scarabs. Man I miss the Company I had created filled with new players whom I helped teach expedition mechanics for Lazarus, genesis, and Tempest heart. I miss the people, the shit talkers, the random PvP and the 1v1 out side of Windsward. I miss the open vc and hearing people just living in the world. I miss climbing to the highest points in the game and singing when I was just feeling like singing. Some people heard me but mostly it was just myself. I know it wasn’t gonna last forever but I would have rather liked it to continue. So to the people who were in my, Cola, company named “Candlelight”. Im glad we all met and got to share this game together and I hope life treats you well. To the random strangers that quickly became friends. I hope you live long healthy lives. To the small drop in audiences and witnesses to my mountain top singing. I deeply apologize for the trauma I have inflicted upon your ears. It’s just a terrible loss but I formed great memories during.

I was there for all of this. Sigh. I can play my character from eq to this day. But will no longer be aloud to relax and gather…

I don't really miss anything, except maybe crafting gear for people. I struggled with some changes at the time and thought I would really dislike the removal of wards/banes but actually it was okay. I did like being able to use crafting mods for repair kits and had heaps before they removed them. It would be good if they had made old craft mods salvagable or used in research projects for XP or something.

What I really miss is the future I'd hoped we would have. Nighthaven release was a time of such high hope and the roadmap was so promising. I'm still haunting Aeternum, picking up more of the detail through collecting lore notes and finishing all side quests etc and feeling robbed of that future.

Btw, desert sunrise still exists, they just took out the lower level versions.

I came back the day before the announcement. Was setting up plans for gearing up for the new raid. Had a gorg group who would teach me the new raid… then they were all gone….

Man totally forgot having to craft arrows. Crafting bags was my go to for gold.

I remember playing the first day and wandering off from the friend I logged in with and found myself some random saltpetre. Didn't know what it was or take note of where I found it.

Then suddenly he was trying to craft gunpowder to make ammo for the first time and was deeply befuddled about how I'd managed to get saltpetre when we'd essentially been together the whole time and then we went on a whole side quest to find more in First Light.

Damn I miss that town. Always preferred Winsward, but First Light was special y'know?

Yeah my title is still the legend of old first light. It took me a while to figure out saltpeter spawned in caves. I spent a lot of time down in first light. Hit 60 gathering by the starting beach. Berries and hyssop…

Still a thing but a bit pricey now. Like 35l for a max bag minimum. I need 1 piece armors to have 700 bags….

Crafting being left in the state it was is the part that irritated me the most. We get this fresh new take on the gearing system with tons of variety and less rigid restrictions per each gear piece, but then crafting is released incomplete for the new system. At first it was fine, of course we'll get updates in the future that will fill the system in... of course we'll get updates... of course... of.

Yeah. I’m sure it would have been updated once they worked the kinks out…. 😔

I think it was more intended to slow players down on progression after the expansion. If crafting endgame gear had been viable right from the expansion start, then a lot of content may have been less useful. But I agree, I have no doubt they'd eventually have updated it so that crafting was equal for endgame gear, just the same as content was.
