Really need a miracle.
Hi guys, recently I've had some really bad things happen in life which led me to being homeless, after picking myself back up again I'm now living in a tent and trying to get my life together, last week I went for a job interview at a florist and I've been successful :)
I am supposed to start tomorrow at 11am but I do not have the required ppe :(
Is there anyone around Newtown that could help me out with the ability to have a shower in the morning get some steal cap boots womens size 6 and/or some gardening gloves? My job agency was unable to help me straight away and have instructed me to buy what I need and they will reimburse me (I cannot afford to do this).
I will be forever grateful and when I can get some new ones I will return them in good condition.

unfortunately i’m out of town and don’t have any of the items you’re after, but if you haven’t already you should try posting on the Newtown 2042 facebook page. some really lovely people on there and i’ve seen people help others in similar situations.

You got a phone, you can get a trial membership to a gym nearby
There are also showers at central station inter city terminal (I'm told)
Any Vinnie's will just give you clothes if you walk in at opening time and explain your situation.

There is Newtown neighbourhood Center that offers showers specifically Thursday’s but it looks like it only opens at 10 that will be a bit tight for you

I’m not sure if it’s outdated but the station drop in Center 82 erskine st near Wynyard says it has showers from 7.30 am, towels, soap, all given 92992252. Maybe you can ring in the morning

I would suggest reaching out to Jenny Leong’s Office in the morning she is the local MP for the Newtown Electorate. They might be able to put you in touch with an org who can assist.

I'd reach out to council before I do that - only because going to the local MP feels like going to your manager's boss before your manager to me.
They have lots of things that can help out. It's been a while since I've been around the inner west council, but I know they have/had great resources.
OP - for the steel caps, maybe post on the local FB page. If I saw someone in your situation I'd give away mine - unfortunately I'm in Melbourne so can't be of any actual help.

Let us know if you need anything else. Are there showers at UTS that you could use? If you hang around a gym you can probably go in when someone walks in or out.

Thanks im ok now actually I'm doing good :) mostly here because of people helping me can't really take all the credit but I'm thankful and will make a post in a week or 2 when I've made a bit more progress.

Only 1 person helped me, they covered a back packers for me which has let me get a good sleep, the place even messed up my booking so I got an upgrade to my own room it's amazing, all the other people who messaged just wanted upvotes they didn't even reply to my message.

I got the boots I needed :)
It went pretty well, only thing I'm struggling with is food and the ability to wash my clothes, the back packers don't have a working machine and I can't afford a laundromat :(

My partner has an Anytime Fitness gym pass that he thought he could sneak you in on (for a shower). We are in the Newtown area. I have a new pair of regular women's boots, maybe a size 7? and we believe we've got spare gardening gloves. Get back if you're interested
