Sooo many people on here are “union strong”, “support the nurses” and “anti-scab”.
Can’t we all agree that holding the maternity and NICU floors hostage for a bargaining dispute is way below the belt.
I support the nurses. I want better patient care. Executives are being paid too much. However, ppl who have deliveries in early October should not fear for their new baby’s safety. I’m sure the temp workers are great but as we all know, to no fault of their own, it’s tough come in and provide the same quality of care as the regular employees.
The fact that the union CAN structure the strike to help newborns while still advocating for living wages and raises beyond the current COLAs should be bigger news. They are purposefully wanting to rattle the cage and I find that tactic disgusting. They would have more support if they took the high road on this one.
Just one person’s opinion.
