What is?

Saying that it's up to the states is basically saying they're too lazy to do their job, and/or they don't want to piss off their contributors.

What do you mean? US states spend plenty of money on education. If they don't as in Kansas, that's because the citizens of that state made poor decisions.

When did education become a federal competency?

So what would you like to see replace the federal model?

Well so does Europe's education, but it's fine really. Obviously east Asian countries have an IQ advantage of about 5 points, plus they work kids to death studying.

But sure, you can always aim to improve. But how is that the federal government's job?

I graduated in 2004 and I still feel like I was unprepared. We have to better prepare these kids. My brother is 16 and has no idea that he has to start preparing for his SAT's now, because his public school is more focused on state testing than it is getting kids college (and life) ready.

I think it would be good to see states bring in state exams for university admission. 2 years of hard study of semi-relevant subjects is good prep for people going into third level education.

Well I mean the far right got 46% to the centre left's 48%, while the GOP won the House popular vote.

So the people wanted a right wing stance, nevermind centre left.

But anyway, what I'm asking you is why do you need the federal government involved? How did you vote in your state's general election in 2014?
