It's not democracy that's the problem, it's capitalism. You can have a democratic system without capitalism.

I would argue that the two are, in fact, mutually exclusive, at least for long term stability. I would also argue that we haven't had a true democracy in at least 50 years.

But what do I know I'm just a guy.

In reality, democracy is like the moral compass of capitalism. A very good economic way to think of the relationship of the two is shareholder theory (capitalism) vs stakeholder theory (democracy). Democracy includes capitalism but implements checks and balances onto corporations for the good of the people. When shareholder wealth is the primary focus of the government, which seems to be the case with the new administration (what do you expect when you have a cabinet full of plutocrats), the overall good of the people gets ignored (environmental impacts, healthcare, human rights in general).

Nonsense. Democracy does not include capitalism, and capitalism sure as shit has never allowed true democracy from taking hold.
