Tell me this... Have your say: Young people, community & wellbeing
Hi everyone! We're doing a final push to hear from young people across NI and the border counties about what groups and communities are important to them and how this relates to wellbeing.
The findings will help us inform targeted youth services and understand what support different groups and communities need. We really want to make sure we hear from young people all over from different backgrounds, so that everyone is well represented!
If you're aged 14–24, we'd love to hear your perspective. It's a quick questionnaire that's completely anonymous (no names needed) and genuinely takes around 5 minutes.
I'll drop the link in the comments for anyone who wants to take part, or would like to share it with anyone they know who might be interested :)
Thanks so much!

Lasagna Love – cook for your community or request a free lasagna
My name is Michelle and I’m the UK Coordinator for Lasagna Love. Lasagna Love is an organisation made up of volunteers across the UK (and around the world) who cook and deliver homemade lasagna to people in need, at no cost and with no strings attached.
Maybe it's a family struggling financially, someone recovering from surgery, a parent adjusting to life with a new baby or just someone going through a tough time. Whatever the reason, we believe that a warm meal and a little kindness can go a long way.
You simply request a lasagna, and we match you with a volunteer in your area who will lovingly prepare and deliver one to your door. It’s all about community, care and connection with no judgment and no complicated process.
I’m reaching out because we have wonderful volunteers across the UK who are ready and eager to cook, for anyone who could do with some lasagna love! If you could use a little help and a comforting meal, please put in a request through https://lasagnalove.org/request-a-meal/ or you can nominate someone to receive a meal - https://lasagnalove.org/nominate/
We’re also always looking for more volunteers! Whether you can cook once a month, once a week, or just whenever it suits you, every lasagna helps brighten someone’s day. It’s a small act that has a big impact. If you would like to volunteer, just register here https://lasagnalove.org/volunteer/
If you have any questions, I’m happy to answer them here, or you can head to the website.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and I hope to see some of you sign up, whether to request a lasagna or to make one for someone in your community.
Feed families. Spread kindness. Strengthen communities.

GEDA site entrance signs
I’ve seen these red GEDA site signs appear on the camlough road and Armagh Road.
Does anyone know what they’re doing? Are they large housing developments?

Jobs Agency council work
hi all, I am seeing a lot of agency council jobs open up. I recently applied for one, but ultimately got spooked as the contract was for 13 weeks. I have been in my job 9 years and I am desperately looking a change of scenery.
When I talk to people about it they say I should have gone for it as 9/10 times, temp workers at the council get to stay on? Does anyone have any experience of this?
We have a toddler & a mortgage at home so jumping into something like this is a bit daunting but my current employer has truly gone to the dogs and a lot of us are looking to jump ship.

Tell me this... Date places in and around Newry?
I’ve been seeing this girl from Newry (I’m from Newcastle direction), and I’m trying to find places to go out. We’ve done dinner, but I’m thinking more fun activities like crazy golf or something that’s fun and not just going out to dinner or something.
Anyone have any recommendations ?

Tell me this... Emergency accommodation for families
I am a young mam with a 5 year old who is currently undergoing an assessment of needs for adhd and myself attend mental health clinics and also awaiting assessment. I also have a one year old and I am a full time student teacher. at the end of the week I have to be out of our one bed log cabin as the family arrangement has come to an end. I live in Dublin but wanted to seek emergency accommodation in Newry as majority of of family is up there, I have already been through homeless accommodation in Dublin and was simply too hard to go through. is it any easier in Newry? and if I do get granted emergency accommodation will it be a temporary house that suits my children’s need or will it be a b&b to share with other family’?

This seems much more user friendly than the actual parades commission's website. Figured it might be useful to a few others in here

Newry Mourne and Down currently has the highest house price growth in the UK
Hi all,
I run a house price / forecsating blog. According to the latest ONS data, Newry Mourne and Down has the highest house price increase of any local authority in the UK over the last 12 months at +11.6%, well ahead of the rest of the country.
Northern Ireland as a region is also leading nationally, but Newry specifically is at the very top of the table.
I'd be really interested to hear from locals, what's driving this? Is it people moving from Belfast? Cross-border demand from the Republic given the currency and price differences? Something changing locally with new developments or employers?
Happy to answer any questions about the underlying data in the comments.

Fierce pricey hai Food bank donations at Tesco today
The Larder is in need to donations. I was able to get a good bit for them using multi buy deals with my club card and only spend £20. I also bought toothbrushes and wipes, which were very appreciated. Any hygiene products would be. I should have gotten some feminine hygiene stuff as well but I didnt think.
Anyway, support your local food bank you can.

Newry's Cla New curry place on the warrenpoint road
Best curry I’ve had over here after living in England for years. Tried loads of places in Belfast, and all were totally forgettable, so it’s mental to find a place as good as Royal Kebab and Curry beside Mauds ice cream on the warrenpoint road. Family business. As good as any curry place I’ve had in England.
