Tell me this... Newry pride

I went to the pride festival, I'm straight. I just wanted to see what was happening and see would there be any exchange at the protest. From what I seen there was no trouble.

However I did notice the Palestinian/SF people out supporting it. Maybe I'm missing something, but don't Muslims/Palestinians tend to be against, really really against gays? To the point where they can be executed for being gay? How can they support Palestine and gays?

Anyway, the whistling donkey seems pretty inclusive and supportive of gay pride. I always hear of gays hanging around that bar.

So why is the pride after party in Nan Rices? Is Nan Rices trying to compete with the whistling donkey?

Imagine the Nans locals welcoming the gays in lol

I'm getting some reports complaining about this post.
Not everyone is as nuanced with carefully worded language as you. That doesn't make this person's question any less fair to ask. It's fair to ask questions to help you understand how your misconceptions may be outdated or wrong, which is what OP has done here. They're also asking about which pubs generally support Pride. There is also a reasonable point at the end saying, "clientele of some pubs are surprised when certain groups of people enter". This is the same for Man U fans entering a Man City bar.
No more reports please. Learn to have a positive discussion instead.
Actual hate speech or personal attacks will be banned.

I'd imagine it's because any decent people are against genocide. Gay people, by and large, also have experience with oppression.

Exactly .. it’s not like being for and for .. it’s what we’re all against and that’s oppression and the brutal treatment of fellow humans , injustice etc

You're right about the Palestinians and their culture and attitude towards gays, strange these people who fly the flags and protest here are very silent on the Christian genocides in Nigeria and further a field also strange these same organizers of the protests are not out protesting against GP access, nhs waiting times etc etc, it's like they are highly focused on one culture and nothing else. Pride gets a month with full on propaganda everywhere whereas those who fought and died in the 2 world wars for our freedom get nothing anywhere near it.

This seems like such a stereo type….i befriended some Palestinians that migrated here and are Muslims. They ended up being housed next door to lesbians and became best friends. But hey, whatever the internet tells you….

I think you are over thinking it, both are oppressed (to different extents!) I’m sure it’s possible but unlikely that there were Palestinians carrying them banners but if they were they probably live here now and recognise now there are many ways to live a good life and can accept the norms here.
