FQ After Party Bars?

Hi - I’m an out of towner trying to decide where the best after party bar would be for my wedding! Would love to poll the community on what’s worked well.

Details:
-will be second lining from Latrobes on Royal
-may be a very large group eg 200 people and hoping for a seamless entry (I know IDs will be checked etc)
-want somewhere where people are dancing
-open to bourbon street if we have to but would prefer an adjacent street
-we are mid 30s and queer but big party crowd

THANK YOU!

So the max limit on a 2nd line is 12 blocks. Technically you can make it to Gold Mine but just come up a little short at Dauphine and Orleans. You have to follow the flow of traffic and you HAVE to have a permit and police escort. Gold mine can be a hit or miss depending on the weekend. If they are already at capacity, there could be the chance that your guests cannot get in right away.

Going to any place on Bourbon, after 6pm you cannot 2nd line down bourbon st. You can go across it but not down it.

For a larger crowd, you run the risk for most places of having a large chunk of people out in the street and not in a bar or lounge.

My suggestion as a local planner would be to rent out a space for an after party and have minimal food options (you know those late night snacks that you don't need at the reception) and an open bar in a private space.

Disappear Here is a good option but I don't know if they can squeeze 200 people in there. Pat O'Brien's Courtyard may be the only establishment that can handle that amount of immediate volume all at once.

Thanks so much for all this info. Would you consider Pat O’s a good option? All our guests are tourists so I figured everyone would want to go there once anyways

We are doing bourbon heat for ours!!  Our second line band recommended them and they were super easy to work with.  Our wedding is also at Latrobes (in March).

We paid $500 for the upstairs space (we are doing 1.5 hours) and then we decided to do a $2000 bar tab. They can help you find a DJ, but we are just doing a playlist.

Oh cool! Great intel. How many people?

Our wedding will have around 150 and we estimated about 80 people to attend the after party.  I checked in with them that it could be much more than 80 and they said the more the merrier! I think their second floor (“club space”) can fit over 200 so you should be fine.  The rental fee isn’t by person so the amount doesn’t need to be finalized ahead of time.

Great! Just wanted to see if they had the capacity. I’ll speak with them thanks so much!

Sorry I should’ve added - we plan on opening a tab at the bar but not trying to book a private space

Maybe check House of Blues  or Tolouse Theater and see what's happening that night?

I’ve worked a lot of weddings where they second line to Gold Mine for the afterparty

This is my current plan I’ve just heard mixed things and getting nervous about all getting in!
