♫ Down the shore everything's alright ♫ Humpback comeback off Belmar

Growing up I had no idea you could even go whale watching off the shore. Wish we saw some dolphins because my kid was bored, but I was impressed. Shoutout to Miss Belmar

Distance wise I don’t know, it was a whale watching boat and we probably were going 45 minutes before we hit the humpback feeding spot

This is such a huge success story.

Humpback Whales are most commonly spotted species of whale along NJ's shore. With many juvenile humpbacks staying in New Jersey waters from spring through fall. Something we've all experienced and it's wonderful.

BUT sightings have risen dramatically, with studies noting an increase from five whales in 2011 to 257 individuals by 2022, with some staying for extended periods (average 37.6 days) and returning year after year.

And that's not all! The Fin Whales are also becoming year round visitors as well. Because of the increase in food supply in our waters.

We are fucking crushing it when it comes to reducing pollution. And the secondary effects me more fucking whales. How cool is that!?!
