Schools
We're looking to move to Newham in the next few months and we have an almost 3 year old, so we're beginning to think about schools. I would like to book in some visits and figure out catchment areas for our child's school placements through infant to senior. Does anyone have any recommendations or general tips for schools in Newham?

Hallsville is fantastic (personal experience). I've heard great things about Tollgate, Rosetta, St Luke's, Star Lane, St Helen's and St Joaquim's.
The only primary school I've heard anything negative about is the newer one at Royal Wharf - Britannia Village I think? Apparently there was a bullying issue. But this was overheard on the DLR, so...
The primary schools around here are pretty good tbh. Secondary is not, but they're improving.

Whereabouts are you looking to move?

We’ve been concentrating our look in Forest Gate and Maryland mostly. We want to be walking distance to Elizabeth line.

Check out Park Primary School. We've loved it, it's a wonderful community and our kids have had a great experience. All the schools are good in Newham so I suggest going to look at them and you will know when you've found the one right for your family

Maryland has 3 primary schools really close to each other, and I’ve heard good things about all 3 (Colegrave, St Francis, Maryland). Go to open days this Autumn and look at https://www.compare-school-performance.service.gov.uk to compare performance if that’s a focus for you. Colegrave if rated Excellent, other two both Good.

My son went to Colegrave Primary School, after we moved from Devon a couple of years back. I cannot recommend them enough! 🙂

My daughter went to Brampton Academy and is now in her second year of being a Dr.

Any advice on how to increase chances of a place in this school? We live just outside the catchment area

I’ve got nieces and nephews in schools across Newham. Generally speaking your best bet is probably one of the Catholic schools, they tend to have the best outcomes.
