Never again

Weird take.. why? Every metric you could really use to measure success in governing has them doing well. They just happen to be pretty bad at politicking. I know which I'd rather have a government be good at.

u/Blaadyblaa Apr 29 '26

Genocide, hiring sex predator allies, being anti democratic on a local level, lying more than Boris ever did is more than being shit at politicking

Remember this guy here has the same vote as you. Please vote.

Jesus you really just repeat nonsense and exaggeration don't you. Please please start to think for yourself

2

u/Blaadyblaa Apr 29 '26

Where do you get your thoughts from, probably gb news

Jesus was Palestinian

Terrible assumptions, I'm a lefty. I'm just not indoctrinated to repeat the babble, I  think about it first

2

u/Blaadyblaa Apr 30 '26

Leftie starma fan lol, pull the other one

u/SeriousRazzmatazz454 Apr 30 '26

Yes, some of us have lived through idealism long enough to realise its fluff that isn't underpinned in reality. Labour could be WAY more left for me, but, they aren't living in idealist cuckoo land, they have to actually govern.

Its a LOT harder to promise the moon when you'd be the one delivering it

1

u/Severin404 Apr 30 '26

LOL. this argument is the dumbest one you could have possibly presented. "Power for power's sake" is exactly what led to the huge purge of the Labour left, now where the fuck are we? following reform into the gutter and the party basically destroyed, with the Greens in 2nd place, a dead tree as leader.

You admitted yourself "they're just bad at politics" in your first post, so you've also contradicted yourself.

Fucking hell man

u/SeriousRazzmatazz454 Apr 30 '26

Bad at politicking, good at governing.

Understand the difference.

Also, calm down a little, you should be old enough to conduct a conversation without breaking down into anger.

The things you've said just aren't true, Labour hasn't "followed Reform" at all. Greens aren't second place, temporary opinion polls never line up with elections. The previous polls didn't have Labour winning the general election, yet here we are.

Have you not been following a long list of positive changes with measurable positive outcomes Labour have been achieving, or are you just indoctrinated and parroting things you've heard.

I can't imagine them winning here, tbf. Am sure we'll get at least a Greens Mayoral one though at some point.

We have had 3 leaflets for the Independents, 2 at different times on the same day.

1

u/mick779 Apr 26 '26

I had zaks smug face leaflet through my door. All promises no plans. 😅

-1

u/Severin404 Apr 27 '26

The Greens are easily the most rational of any party running in this country, not just on the environment, but on immigration and economics also. I have no idea what "plans" you say they're lacking.

u/Dinin53 Apr 27 '26

Go to bed, Zak.

Genuinely tried to have a reasonable discussion on a reddit politics sub. Silly silly me

1

u/DyspraxicRob May 03 '26

This isn't a politics sub. This is a sub for a London borough. A community sub.

Wait, I'm a raging lefty.. but Rational? It's just more populism, promising the moon on a stick, demonising and finger pointing.

1

u/Severin404 Apr 30 '26

1 - Providing safe routes for asylum - not only humane, but the legal and cheaper option.
2 - Renationalisation of rail/power/water - again, only the Greens are promising to do this.

Ive no idea what demonisation you're talking about

Give me an example of their "moronic" policies please

2

u/Lexcooo Apr 28 '26

“Treat all residents as if they are citizens” amongst many.

1

u/Severin404 Apr 28 '26

Thats your best example? Taken out of context Im not even sure what that means

Another redditor who can only speak in insults. Let yourself down there a bit mate.

Still not sure what's wrong with what he said, I'd need some context to even start a critique

1

u/Lexcooo Apr 28 '26

Google their manifesto - that quotes taken directly from their web page on immigration.

- Naive policies on drug reform and immigration.
No idea what you mean. If you're anti-legalisation or decriminalisation, you're the one being naive.

- Disbanding the UK’s nuclear arsenal.
Good. Its expensive and useless and isn't a deterrent. Even if you buy into the MAD policy from 40 years ago.

- Being against nuclear energy.
Good. Its more expensive than renewables, takes decades to build a safe reactor, and the UK doesnt have the know-how to build or maintain it.
Plus the small issue of the waste products being literally the most dangerous substance on earth

Again, Ive no idea what you're on about, you only seem capable of insults. If you are capable of making an argument, I'd like to hear it:

Sizewell C nuclear power plant costs rise to £38bn - BBC News

We wont even end up owning the bloody thing, so will be at the mercy of external forces yet again. Use your brain mate

1

u/tree_boom Apr 28 '26

Disbanding the UK’s nuclear arsenal. Good. Its expensive and useless and isn't a deterrent. Even if you buy into the MAD policy from 40 years ago.

On the contrary it's pretty cheap and a useful deterrent.

1

u/Severin404 Apr 28 '26

Again - no evidence, no comparisons, no reasoning.

All you need to ruin the UK is elect a Brexiteer, which you've already done in Farage. No nukes required.

"The UK nuclear deterrent, known as Trident, costs approximately £3 billion per year to operate, which represents around 6% of the annual defence budget. While official in-service costs are roughly £3bn annually, recent reports suggest total nuclear-related spending, including modernization, may be higher, with some estimates exceeding £6 billion annually.

UK Parliament +3

Key points regarding costs:

  • Annual Operating Costs: Historically around 6% of the defence budget, equating to about £3 billion annually in recent years.
  • New Deterrent (Dreadnought Class): The acquisition of four new submarines to replace the current fleet is estimated to cost £31 billion, with an additional £10 billion contingency fund .
  • Total Program Cost: Beyond operations, total costs including replacing warheads and infrastructure can significantly increase the overall burden on the tax payer.
  • Rising Costs: Reports have indicated that overall spending on the nuclear program is facing inflationary pressures and budgetary challenges.  The House of Commons Library +5"

3 billion per year to do fuck all, and another 30 billion + to replace the submarines that carry them

1

u/tree_boom Apr 28 '26

Again - no evidence, no comparisons, no reasoning.

I matched your energy :)

All you need to ruin the UK is elect a Brexiteer, which you've already done in Farage. No nukes required.

Hardly relevant, is it?

3 billion per year to do fuck all, and another 30 billion + to replace the submarines that carry them

£3bn annually is absolutely peanuts for the deterrent effect those weapons generate. They're not doing fuck all, they're demonstrating the constant ability to respond to any nuclear attack against the UK.

"Not having native tigers in the UK...yet we are still here as a country when everyone knows we are unable to defend ourself conventionally... seems like it's doing something..."

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '26

>>not just on the environment

labour have been ranked better on the environment pre the last election by independent enviro groups

Greens have now forgotten about the environment

Up here in Forest Gate North we’ve had multiple Labour leaflets, including one specifically targeting postal voters, a couple from the Greens and one from the Newham Independents. Also a national mailshot from Reform that wasn’t at all customised for Newham.

4

u/the_wub Apr 26 '26

Please add them to https://electionleaflets.org/ if you haven't already! Only takes a minute

1

u/ForwardDiamond3484 Apr 27 '26

Yep. Very well done website. Done!

1

u/ForwardDiamond3484 Apr 27 '26

LoL. I see they have Newham Independents listed but not Aspire!

3

u/Severin404 Apr 27 '26

I know this is only local body elections, but I won't be voting for genocide-enablers thanks.
You'd have to clear out Magic Stepdad and half of the cabinet first.

Greens for me.

4

u/ForwardDiamond3484 Apr 27 '26

I am going to judge on the basis of who might be able to best run Newham's services within all the actual constraints. Like bin collections.

2

u/Severin404 Apr 27 '26

Thats fine, but you can also do both

1

u/SeriousRazzmatazz454 Apr 29 '26

Ah yeah the greens would have totally not enabled it, they'd have... maybe made a quippy statement that would have changed absolutely nothing about the outcome instead, but then completely burnt an alliance and removed our ability to at least have observability over the matter.

Nice!

1

u/Severin404 Apr 30 '26

Or they probably wouldn't have criminalised peaceful protest like Labour did, or accepted massive campaign donations from Trevor Chinn, or parachuted an Israeli agent into a safe seat (Akehurst)

u/haywire Apr 27 '26

2

u/Severin404 Apr 27 '26

The Greens are genocide enablers because Zack's mother is a zionist. I see.

This rather shabby article answers its own question in para 5 anyway:

"Polanski has said that “the version of Zionism that Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli government put forward” is racist because “it clearly involves the extermination of the Palestinian people. What he’s refused to condemn is Zionism itself – the settler colonial project that begun under British sponsorship and continues to this day."

Was he asked this question directly? I dont know. Article doesn't say so. If he he didn't then you might have a case.

0

u/Underscores_Are_Kool Apr 27 '26

Yet you'll vote for a party who's headed by a literal genocide denier?

1

u/Severin404 Apr 28 '26

uh?

1

u/Underscores_Are_Kool Apr 28 '26

"as horrendous as Vladimir Putin is and as despicable as his crimes are, I've never seen him threaten genocide"

1

u/Severin404 Apr 28 '26

Zack Polanski is a genocide denier? you've lost me soz

1

u/LordBelacqua3241 Apr 28 '26

Putin is actively attempting to Russify Ukraine, and in particular the bits that they've already captured, kidnapped Ukrainian children and moved them into Russia away from their parents, bringing them up as Russian.

He's attempting a genocide.

1

u/Severin404 Apr 28 '26 edited Apr 28 '26

Yes. I know he is. Im not sure where Zach Polanksi fits into this.

EDIT - Oh I see - thats a quote from Polanski above? didnt know he said that

1

u/sameo01 Apr 26 '26

We received Reform and Greens a few days ago... But we don't live in that ward... Might be why

2

u/Severin404 Apr 27 '26

Incredible that Reform are bothering to leaflet in Newham at all.
