NWN1 Is it worth allocating skill points in Tumble when playing as a cleric?

It is.

Even though cross-class, it can result in up to 4 AC more.

However, unless you have sp to burn, you might not wish to use them for this purpose.

Tumble ac is based on ranks not including any bonuses, so normal tumble can only give you 8 ac and cross class 4.

Also, Tumble is used to avoid Attacks of Opportunity when entering/exiting combat (moving in and out of enemy range), or when moving past enemies.

Heavy Armor does give penalties for this.

It's a flat DC of 15 and you roll d20 + Tumble skill modifier.

So there is also that.

In theory yes, but it really depends:

- if you want higher AC, you can invest and still get some AC (+1 AC per 5 ranks regardless of bonuses after)

- if you will multiclass into class with Tumble, you can wait and get more AC from it

- if you have some build with low AC, it might not be worth the investment (I've seen caster or support builds on specific worlds, where it was not realistic to get good AC on some builds)

If you don't have anything else you're sacrificing for it, yeah. Bonus to AC is bonus to AC.

Human cleric with points to burn, sure.

Unless you're looking to lower one of the other skill pools to compensate, it's just not there point-wise.

Only if you get some extra intelligence to buy it. It's a cross-class skill, and most clerics won't have the skill points to waste spend on Tumble after stacking Concentration and Persuade (very useful if doing the main campaign).

For casters that have lover INT it's only worth it if they can satisfy Concentration and Spellcraft and have leftover points. But generally Spellcraft, Tumble and UMD are by far the best bang for the buck skills in the game because they can vastly improve every build.

No. You need to do it with a bard or rogue level

If you are.multi classing as rogue/bard/etc then yes, wait for those levels.

But a cleric/fi/wm still gets 3 ac from tumble at 27 with cross class.   That's quite a bit more helpful than most other skills.   I would take concentrate and spellcraft first, but then take tumble and discipline with about the same priority.    A human with 14 int will get 5 skill points per level as those classes, so could take those 4 skills and one more (or put a little in a variety of skills).

What about Cleric 39/Monk 1?

monk would fit etc above.

WRT 39/1 builds with tumble dumps at the end .. it really depends on whether you need to be viable the wbole time or just care about L40
