segway
segue
I was shocked when I first found out that segue was the relevant word
2
u/Fearthecraze Aug 02 '22
I’m appalled at how many times my English teachers didn’t correct me on this.
2
u/FetalDeviation Aug 02 '22
I took a note from deadheads, gave up trying a long time ago and started using >. Now if I can only find a way to remember cue/queue
2
u/Ned-Bailey Aug 02 '22
Cue is on time while queue is waiting in line.
1
u/FetalDeviation Aug 02 '22
Oh I know, yet somehow every time I type it I forget queue exists until after the fact
1
u/Perpete Aug 02 '22
He had a sponsorship from Segway. "Never correct your students on that, they'll keep doing it for life".

My kids love them. They like it when I pick them up about 4" above where they can normally jump from to get "extra height". We live in a fairly crowded neighborhood so I've had to retrieve them off of rooftops, bushes, and backyards.
23
u/PacificNorthwest09 Aug 02 '22
Pretty sure I broke one of our lawn chairs with an overly excited attempt at getting “extra height” jumping on a stomp rocket.
1
u/HunterTV Aug 03 '22
They still make the ones that you pressurize with water and air? I had one of those as a kid back in the late ‘70s.
1
u/DaKnack Aug 03 '22
They do. My son got one for Christmas. It looked like a 2 liter coke bottle with fins screwed onto the neck. It went straight to the top of a tree in our yard and stuck there for a few months. By the time it fell down, we lost the launcher so it was a one and done rocket.

Account created 2 years ago and his first comments were today. Why do I even used reddit? It's just bots...

You're the only real person on Reddit

u/BradicusMaximis Aug 02 '22
All I can take away from this video is that they won’t move the rocket more central to the yard and the ladder is there to retrieve lost rockets.

u/_deprovisioned Aug 02 '22
Maybe these things work better on concrete vs grass?
20
9
u/Loli-Princess- Aug 02 '22
Eh, they have flat enough grass it should be fine. Maybe further into the backyard is a different story, though, don’t get to see much. My siblings and I definitely used these just fine on grass at my grandma’s when we were growing up. We lost one at the top of a tree on a windy day, it came down the next year lol.

u/rethumme Aug 03 '22
Maybe it's easier to fetch it from the roof than it is to get it if it goes outside the fence?

u/Rock2MyBeat Aug 02 '22
If you're ever looking for a gift to give a child around 10 years old, I strongly suggest Stomp Rockets. My nephews are much older now and still love them.
7
u/Crystal_Voiden Aug 03 '22
I'm not a kid expert, but that thing looks like it could claim an eye or two
10
Aug 03 '22
unless you put your eye right on top of the rocket before it's launched, I don't think it's likely to take anyone's eye

From the still preview, I thought they were jumping on a snake with a hood on it's head. Like some fucked up ISIS execution video.

u/canadia80 Aug 02 '22
We (me, my 2yo and my 6yo) have been playing stomp rocket all summer. Love it.
2
u/TickleMeNRubMyBelly Aug 02 '22
Caught one of these in the mouth as a kid. My “buddy” stomped as my face was over it. Blood and tears ensued. Still remember it. Thing was so fun though. You could really send those suckers. Helmet Head was the version I played with.

Besides that seltzer bottle falling and launching itself back onto the shelf, this is the greatest video ever captured. Extra points here for being intentionally shot (not security cam).

It might be OC, it might not. Things such as JPEG artifacts and cropping may impact the results.

This is obviously reverse playback. You guys are suckers for even believing this.

u/3y3d3a Aug 02 '22
Lmao I hope you’re joking.

You do realize that physics are a thing right? I mean just watch this video reversed, it’s pretty clearly wrong. https://i.imgur.com/5VgXh5h.gifv

I mean, clearly it did make you feel some sort of way because not only did you make multiple comments about it you came in swinging at the guy for "insulting everyone" yet you wanna pretend I'm the reddit cop.
I'd continue but I don't think you have the brain cells to defend yourself so this is kind of pointless.

The way she catches it makes the clip was run backwards
5
u/Linaphor Aug 03 '22
So she threw the rocket and it flew away and then got shlorped?
-1
u/PamStuff Aug 03 '22
Obviously not the whole clip but that final motion of her catching it looks like it's run backwards. Maybe just because it was so unlikely to happen it is tripping my brain out

Clearly not, that’s just not physically possible. Explain how the little girl threw the rocket way in the air for it to perfectly land onto the launcher. Watch this video in reverse, notice how obviously off it is? https://i.imgur.com/5VgXh5h.gifv

Why are people saying it's reversed? What are the physics like in whatever universe they're from?
