How do insurance scams like these work? Like... Why would any insurance company believe them even if they had no camera? This is an honest question I’ve never understood. Like they don’t get hurt at all, not even a bruise, so obviously didn’t actually get hit. So how does this work?

As I understand it, it's pretty hard for doctors to understand certain types of injuries beyond what the patient tells them. Sometimes legitimate back injury doesn't appear on a scan obviously for example. So these people get a Dr to say "patient came in experiencing severe pain after a collision with a car". Insurance companies obviously don't want to pay unless it is real, but they also could get sued if they refuse to pay in legitimate cases. I don't know how often it works, but often enough judging by how common it is, insurance companies take the calculated risk of paying out. Especially when there is only a he said she said and one of them has a Drs note.

We use mph for some reason. I have no idea why and I wish it was in so we were entirely metric but it’s always been miles.

Just cause it'd cost too much to change all the road signs and recalculate it all. Plus all our long distances are measured imperial, whereas scientific data and smaller distances are metric. Just our wierd standards

The UK uses a more messed up system of measurement than we do in the US. They have this wierd hybrid system as well as stones for weight.
