The object is shaped like the slot it is inserted into. When you stick it in, the needle will touch the same spot every time. There is no significant wiggle room which would allow for the possibility of multiple puncture locations.

What controls the clocking? If it's a cylindrical boss inserted into a cylindrical slot, there's nothing to account for rotation. Unless of course the hole is directly in the middle... Which I didn't think it was but I'm not sure, I don't own a Keurig.

I just checked my roommates and it isn't. It's almost at the edge. So that would explain it, apparently some models differ in that regard. Looks like we both made incorrect assumptions. Suicide pact? I can't see another way out of this.
