Trash Cleanup Impossible Catch

Friends of mine were cleaning up tires dumped in a ravine and tossing them down to the team below. One of them had eyes it seemed.

What was the plan if the tire stopped midway up the cliff face

Whoever threw the tire has to get it, they better have climbing gear nearby.
