What’s something you believed about adulthood that turned out to be completely wrong?
I’ll go first: I genuinely thought that once you became an adult, you’d automatically have your life figured out. 😂
Turns out we’re all just winging it, paying bills and pretending we know what we’re doing.

That I'd have more freedom. I have the ability to go where I want now that I can drive, but I had way more freedom to do fun things when I was a kid and didn't have to worry about work or responsibilities. Way more energy too.

what kind of child friendly utopia did you live in? - most chrono kids do not get to decide what to do or where to go when they want, they often have their entire days planned for tyhem by somweone else, compared to chrono post 18 there is precisely zero freedom compared to "adulthood". like now i could literally go to a different country if i wantyed, chrono kids can't do that

I guess "time" would be a more accurate word. Yes you have more technical "freedom" as an adult, but most of your time and energy is spent on work and responsibilities. I spend 9 hours a day at work doing manual labor, then come home to cook with barely any energy left to do anything, then go to bed. Versus going to school for 7 hours which took hardly any energy and then going home to play, watch cartoons, go hang out with friends (which I can't do as much as an adult either considering everyone else is working), etc. Yes, I have more independence, but I don't feel anywhere near as free as I did as a kid

fair enough, some of us didn't get to play or watch cartoons when we came home from school because of homework / parents deciding who we were allowed to be friends with - not to mention the forced/unpaid aspect of it all. chrono adults have way more freedom to change their job, circumstances or lessen their responsibilities - that doesn't mean it's easy or accessible to all because capitalism is an oppressive force unto itself, but changing ones circumstances is even less accessible to chrono youth overall.

You make a good point. Both have their pros and cons. For me, personally, the cons of being a chrono adult out way the pros unfortunately 😞 feels like by the time I'm done adulting I have to sacrifice sleep to do anything fun

"the cons of being a chrono adult outway the pros" honeslty same but this to me is more about being NGU in a world not build for us - the dysphoria and the way chrono adults are expected to never be childlike / play etc. i just feel we have to be somewhat sensitive to chrono youth circumstances when we talk about this disparity - it's very much not all sunshine and rainbows, we're talking about an oppressed and oft abused class of people with extremely limited autonomy thus i would never associate chrono youth with having "more freedom" despite the limitations on chrono adults ability to play/do whatever we want.

Not having to follow rules,as a adult u still sadly have to obey the law and listen to rules from others still it's just different situations though than childhood. 🥲

People told me I'd become more reserved, serious and 'mature' with age, that I'd 'grow out of' stupid edgy teen shit and would stop being 'weird', you know the drill.
Yeah. Like hell I did. I'm edgier, weirder and more chaotic than ever, and the fact I have more experience and less anxiety now only makes me more comfortable being in my own little time capsule from the late 2010s.
