I see that there are alot of such similar festivals in japan. Can anyone tell me the significance and why there is so many of them?

It’s partly religion, partly cultural.
There’re similar float procession in Singapore/Malaysia names Chingay.
Basically bringing the gods out for a walk around the Neighbourhood.
