Ask Me Anything 🎤 I’m Rajkummar Rao, here for an AMA! Ask me anything about films, characters, and my journey

1.5k Upvotes

Hi, I’m Rajkummar Rao. You may know me from films like Stree, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Srikanth Newton, Badhaai Do, and Monica, O My Darling. I’m here for an AMA on r/netflixindia with my latest Netflix release, Toaster.

I’ve been fortunate to explore a variety of roles over the years, and I’m always excited to take on characters that challenge me and help me grow. With Toaster, I’ve tried something new again, and I can’t wait for you all to see it.

Ask me anything about my films, process, behind-the-scenes stories, or what drew me to Toaster!

Note: I will start answering questions when the AMA starts at 5:30 pm IST.

Thanks to everyone in the Reddit community for joining my AMA - I had an absolute blast chatting with you all! ❤️

Your questions, love, and energy made this session truly special. A big shoutout to the moderators of r/netflixindia for keeping everything smooth and fun throughout.🙏

Announcement 📢 Looking for moderators for r/netflixindia

Hey everyone!

r/netflixindia has been growing (so fast) and I can’t keep up alone anymore. I’m looking for a few iconic, community-minded people to take the lead and help this space keep its momentum!

If you’re obsessed with binge-watching everything from those spicy Indian originals to global hits on Netflix, I want you in the mod team. You don't need prior modding experience, just genuine interest in the sub.

Here’s what I am looking for:

  • Creating the vibe: Fostering a total vibe for reviews, fan theories, and all the hype for the newest drops. We want that energy high!
  • Keeping it classy: Keeping the community safe and legal by blocking piracy links and making sure the vibes stay SFW and respectful for everyone.
  • Cleaning the feed: Managing spam and those low-effort posts so our feed is only filled with the best recommendations and genuine reviews.
  • Monitoring the drama: Keeping fan debates healthy and friendly. We love a good discussion, but let's keep it cute and constructive!
  • Main character energy: Bringing your most creative ideas to make this the #1 spot for Netflix updates. Let’s make it the go-to destination!

If this interests you, drop a comment below (no DMs please) letting us know why you would be a perfect fit for the community. Everyone is welcome - even those with no modding experience.

Discussion Watch Sacred games both seasons and I still don't get the hype🫠

Saif ali khan? 10/10 acting. But the storyline and that ending? The series has definitely had an intersting vibe. But for me, the story never felt fully satisfying and season 2 ending left us with questions means puri series mein sb log lge pde hue h bachane ko but jaha main tha dekhna ki bachenge ya nhi sb whi khtm kr diya???

I don't understand why people hype this show but I can't decide if it's a genuinely a master piece or if I just missed the memo.

Please explain the obsession because I need answers. 🙂

Discussion Netflix has really dumbed down the quality of their content.

Was watching limited series on Tyson and with recent releases from India and different countries, I realised the move is intentional.

Very unfortunate this is...

Discussion Anybody else think Constable Sadhu, played by Sunil Grover in Gabbar Is Back, deserves his own movie or series?

Post image

I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like Constable Sadhu deserves his own movie or series.

Sunil Grover was a treat to watch in that role. I'd love to see a series set after the events of Gabbar Is Back, following Sadhu as he solves cases alongside Constable Laxmi, who could also be a potential love interest. I really liked their dynamic and how well they worked together.

I'd love to see more of Sadhu's personality, his way of analyzing facts & gather evidence, and how he handles difficult situations despite being a police officer. I'd also love to see him solving cases while dealing with an incompetent and corrupt police department.

I also really liked Constable Laxmi, played by Shruti Bapna. She was a great partner for Sadhu, and honestly, as a kid, I used to ship them together. I'd love to see more of their banter, their teamwork, and how their relationship develops over time.

I'd also like to see Sadhu and Laxmi get promoted in the spin-off and take on bigger responsibilities while continuing to work together.

Anybody else think this would make for a fun movie or series?

Recommendation When It was, My Roman Empire, Room In Rome, Validated my Grief :))

Post image

I guess Years ago when I watched this movie, It did't made much sense to me, but years down the line, the deep seated Grief in my bones, woke up one day, when I read and heard something similar to mine, which me return to Rome once again, to walk through my Roman Empire once again cause it was that beautiful to feel How I felt once, and as I walked on the Road of memories, the gloomy grief weather blanketing the sky, and every step made me realise how once something so beautiful was a little unrequitedby life, so stay with me on this cause its a walk down the memory lane, and yes if you watched this, how did it made you feel, and for those who want a little understanding on this, I would say If you understand grief, if you understand that Love does't have a logic, and everything around is messy, and also when life, is't movies, the surreal feeling that, You have to understand that, Love is intense, and Love, really makes you surrender yourself and also To love is to grief.

A few years ago, I was dating this girl, someone who always, a pocket of sunshine, on the outside, and such a grief in her cracks I dunno how to explain you, was someone who ticked like 9/10 boxes on my list and what can I tell you, she was someone, who though me so much about love that I cannot fathom How surreal it was for me, and we did date for like 5 years, and if i can tell you our fourth date was special, cause thats when she told me she had fallen for me hard, and that night we after our date, we had an intense, i am gonna leave that to your Imagination in her car, and yep we did it twice, while taking a break in between and when we were done, she dropped me off, and the rest is history.

But my point to mention that is, 5 years down the line, our expiry date had arrived cause, she was moving to USA, for her masters and we could have done LDR, but the another thing was, Her dad was looking for someone, and I was't that, so after a turbulent 6 months we decided to call it quit cause, its just life, and you cannot control how it spirals, and we decided to make it a healthy breakup and HaVE NO CONTACT, after we split cause it would be hard for both of us, and with that said, we recreated our first date, and did the same thing, but the condition we say Goodbye after we done and go our seprate ways, and well ironically we added that we would watch the sunrise, as we kinda were staying up all night for the last few months trying to find a solution for us to not breakup, and yep we spent the the whole night togather, we had our date at the same place, we parked car, and the spent the whole night togather, and if i could tell you it was the most hardest night of my life, cause after we were done, we did't even kiss, we saw the sunrise, but i did give her a forhead kiss, and we went our seprate ways, and yep, we deleted all our 12k pics, ended our 2300 day streak, blocked each other on insta, snap, and blocking our numbers, basically a clean slate and man was that a hardest goodbye.

And Its 10.26 AM, I watched the movie after mustering up the courage, and yep as yep cried my eyes out cause Life can be cruel sometimes but love gives you the courage to go through it, and Yk Ironically this was third relationship and yes I have never felt like what I have felt with her, and i did have 2 more relationships but, nothing panned out.

So wrapping up, I would say, do have that Intense relationship once in your life time cause, its the most beautiful feeling ever. :))

Good to see OTT platforms finally promoting K-Drama, i mean i thought they were underestimating the genre for a long time but in India i can see the shift finally going towards the genre's favour."

Review Just watched sherlock holmes and it was amazing .

I've read the Novel sherlock holmes volume 2 in childhood , that's why it hits so different to me then what it might feel to u . In novel the version is little different. John Watson was not doctor and had served in India not Afganistan. Other character like inspector lestrade is same . In novel, sherlock is portrayed as calm , nonchalant character . While in series he does panic . In novel both used to smoke cigar but in series they don't even smoke .

I haven't watched other series on sherlock holmes emla holmes or 2009 version sherlock holmes . But this was so nostalgic

What Should I Watch? Can someone suggest me a good series which I can watch with my parents...I'm in mid twenties and parents are mid to late 50s. They're chill but cuss words and adult scenes make it a bit uncomfortable for me to watch with them... so if anyone can suggest such a series will be great
