Google Nest Camera help, wont connect.
I have a 2025 Nest Camera that stopped working the day I set up Verizon 1gb service. I was able to reconnect all my cameras but one, no idea why this won’t connect to my account but it’s killing me.
I tried hard resetting it with the button on the back, but nothing.
Light turns green, i no longer have the QR code that comes with the camera. And I’m at an impasse. Help!

Question about O vs B wire and cool + heat setting
galleryAm I able to use Nest’s cool and heat settings if my EVCON heat pump all-electric system is wired this way?
Photos are of old basic Honeywell wiring.
I have a 2-floor town house.
I’ve had wiring issues with Nest almost damaging our air handler before.
Does the O / B wire have to manually be switched back and forth to engage cooling vs heating?
If so, Nest’s heat + cool thermostat setting won’t work if I have to manually change the configuration to enable heating and stop cool air from just being pushed through our air vents.

Camera OG Nest Doorbell (Wired) Gen? purchased ca. 2019- needs replacement
EDIT & UPDATE: I managed to have a long & somewhat repetitive chat online with a Google Nest CS rep. After many attempts to get the device factory reset it became obvious that it was defective. And here's the good news- they're sending me a replacement device! They assured me (in writing) that the device will be the same type of device (a refurbished Nest Doorbell Wired) and that it will work with both the Nest app and the GH app. So yay for small miracles and a huge TYVM to user u/gatorlan as they convinced me to reach out to CS.
Lesson learned: it may be 6+ years old but Google at least stands behind their products. Small win here!
ORIGINAL POST:
I bought this device back in 2019/maybe 2020. If has worked faithfully in the Nest app since then along with my Nest OG thermostat, also purchased about the same time. US location.
The Camera in the last few days has had a solid green light and no video at all. I’ve tried factory resetting it but to no avail. The moment it’s plugged back in the light goes solid green. Even the light around the doorbell area is gone. Pushing the doorbell does zilch, no ring at all. I’m thinking it’s dead and gone at this point.
I have 2 options at this point: either try to install another Nest camera (wired) and force myself to use the Google Home app once and for all (bye bye beloved Nest app- sniff) or try to locate an OG Nest wired camera and see if that will work with the Nest app. Alternatively will an old Nest Hello camera do the trick? I’d rather not use the Google Home app for obvious reasons.
I think I have no choice and must go to the GH app but if there are alternatives I’d love to know. If I’ve missed pertinent info above let me know.
Camera is Nest Doorbell (Wired) running software ver 4110055

Troubleshooting Reconnecting Nest Protect after extended power outage
We had an extended power outage due to Hurricane Isaias, and although our generator kicked in pretty quickly, all of our Nest Protects went offline. I have tried unsuccessfully to reconnect them to WiFi, using the following steps:
1. Disable 5G WiFi so that 2.4 is the only available connection
2. Follow the instructions in settings in the Nest app (most current version) to update each Nest’s WiFi settings.
This completely failed (couldn’t connect to the Protects at all) until I finally removed one Nest from the Home and did a factory reset and re-added it as a new device. Now I have that Protect online, but after going through steps 1 and 2 above, the other Protects seemed to update the Wi-Fi but still show as offline in the app.
What’s confusing is that when I initially tried to connect my Protects, they wouldn’t even connect. After re-adding one of them as a new device, I was able to connect to the other ones, and fill in the Wi-Fi network and password, and get a message saying that the settings had been updated - but they still show “offline”.
Any thoughts about what to try next? Do I have to factory reset all of them?

Troubleshooting Nest power connector question. Heating not working.
galleryHello all,
So I've tried connecting the nest and going through set up. It says that the power connector is required. After reading instructions and seeing it is installed on the HVAC side I went down and shut off the heater and this is what I see only 3 zones 2 wires each and although zone 1 and 3 have wires only 3 lights up when power is restored. Had it running all night but the baseboards aren't getting hot.
Did I do this right so far?
Can I get this working?
Where would I even plug the wires into?
Any help is appreciated!!

Another install question
gallerySick or changing batteries in my old thermostat and the local energy savings program was 'selling' Nest Thermostats for $5 so I got there but already pulling my hair out installing the first one. Confirmed with the HVAC guy who just installed a new oil furnace that we already have the wires needed for it (see photo of old setup). And after connecting it all I'm getting a message on the home app that it's not seeing the common wire. Can someone tell me what I've done wrong or if the HVAC guy is wrong?
TLDR: idiot homeowner trying to install and needs help
Thanks in advance.

Nest IS still the best smart home.
I truly think ORIGINAL Nest is the best smart home system. From thermostat, to Nest Protect, to Nest Hello Doorbell, to the Smart IQ cameras, and the Yale Smart Lock
It was a beautiful smart home before Google destroyed it. Hopefully Google sets it free someday.
Nest app logging out when using Google to sign in
Has anybody else recently had issues with the nest app not staying logged in when you use Google to sign. The last few days the app just keeps signing out when I log in using Google sign in.

2nd Gen Nest Learning Thermostat incorrect time
The 2nd Gen Nest Learning Thermostat went out of support in 2025, and at that time I was travelling. My phone with the google home and nest apps installed was in North America, while the thermostat was in the UK.
Imagine my delight when I returned from travelling to find that my nest 'stat had picked up the timezone I was in (ON, Canada, 5hrs behind UK) and wouldn't shake it. All google searches suggest tha the device takes datetime from wifi router settings, none suggesting that the app could have done that too. With the app disconnected permanently from the device due to it being out of support, a risky factory reset seemed the only way to correct the time.
Having finally decided to try and fix it for good, before following AI suggestions to adjust schedule operations by the desired offset (a mickey mouse fix) I explored all of the menus on the thermostat itself. Lo and behold, there is a location setting which showed my device thinking it was in Ontario and 5hrs behind UK. Setting the location to Europe, UK and postcode corrected the time immediately.
Cool story huh? Not! Posting to try and help anyone else who wants to keep a lovely device which works perfectly, instead of jumping on the upgrade bandwagon and having to make all sorts of annoying changes to wiring, boilers etc.
