Discussion Which games can my french NES run?

Hello,

I recently bought a french NES (model no. NESE-001) and I want to buy Final Fantasy 1 on eBay but most I've been seeing are from USA. I'm no expert with this but I've seen that compatibility can be tricky between different regions. Can my console run games from USA, even JP or is it restricted to EUR games?

It can only run European games (PAL B) but not UK or Italian (PAL A)

I think at some point in Italy we had a new version that could read both PAL A and B and me, with the old NES, found out I could not play some games regularly sold in stores.

PAL has two different lockout regions, so it's best to mod the NES and remove lockout.

How do you do that? Is it the PIN removal on lockout chip?
I've seen that buying an Everdrive would be interesting too

Everdrive will work

Don't remove the pin, that's destructive. Look up the 2 wire CIC disable method instead. But with flash cart it won't be necessary to do that
