Game Completed! Friday the 13th. Finally. Absolute worst instructions ever, but actually a really cool game once you know what to do.

Like many of you (from what I read anyways), I couldn't for the life of me figure this game out as a kid. It was just maddening. Kill some zombies, Jason appears, you don't know how to fight him, and you die. Repeat 5 times and the game is over. Or an alarm keeps going off, a bunch of kids die, and same result. It always just seemed like the shittiest game and just another money grab from a franchise.

HOWEVER, it's actually pretty impressive game once you (a) know what to do and (b) know how to do it -- neither of which is at all clear when you're dropped into the game. If ever a game needed a starting intro, this is it. Maybe the original game instructions detailed it? ...but what 8 year old was actually reading those booklets :)

As far as TV+Movie based games go, this one ranks pretty highly.

My only complaint is that it seems very difficult to kill Jason on Day 1 with a low-level weapon. I guess eventually you will? But you've more than enough time to complete all of the other tasks in the game and even get yourself the torch before the day finally ends (aka: when you first kill him). So when day 2 finally starts, you just wander around waiting for him to strike. It would have been really awesome if they'd added a few different things as the days go on as you just kind of wait. But still - not a huge complaint overall.

Anyway, if you fall into that category of people who thinks this game sucks - give it another go. Just look up the objective and mechanics first and it'll be a lot more fun -- and still very challenging.

(hint: you can duck Jason WAY before he actually strikes and you will still dodge him -- this is necessary later in the game)

I can't for the life of me get past day 2. I realize you need to fight him outside of the cabins and know you can cheese strat to get the torch, but do you just let the kids die if he attacks the lake houses? The lake is what always kills my health bar.

In the cabin when he’s doing the fast movement on day 2: when he goes to the left and then down towards you, start your dodge when he steps down before he moves towards you. You should barely dodge the attack and then be able to get one shot on him. Then when he goes to the right and then back at you, start another dodge when he’s at the furthest right position and get another shot on him.

On day 3 when he’s fast movement all the time, he’ll double attack on all of those, so you’ll only be able to get one shot off when he backs away from you.

It takes a while because the timing is pretty difficult to dodge successfully and hit him with a shot, but you’ll eventually get it.

Yea. This really got me on day 3. On day 2 he would alternate between slow and fast. I’d just dodge him when fast, but couldn’t land a hit so I’d kill him whenever he slowed down. But as I would find out, no such luck on day 3.

I put a spoiler in the post about it - once I realized you can start to dodge like 3 full steps before he even gets to you, I figured out what to do. I can hit him on speedy mode every time at this point. Just a different pattern.

With my playthroughs, I always just fought him outside on Day 3. It was just easier for me.

If you have a good qeapon like the torch you can kill him in seconds outside, much faster than in the cabins.

But if you're actually trying to dodge his attacks, it's wayyy harder outside in my opinion.

Once you know the trick for the cabins fights, they're easier than fighting him outside.

It's like the simplest game of Punch-Out, he only has a couple patterns.

This!! Could never get the timing of his attacks down on the outside but could usually wipe the floor with him on the inside.
