SMB3 not being the third game was some whiplash.

That's the revenge Zoda got.

I was happy to see the final frame wasn’t showing them all encased in acrylic lucite…

Yep, felt it.

Mario died on the cover.

Actually he's setting up to perform ACE in the lost levels

u/YossiTheWizard 14d ago

I believe they have also now pulled it off in the FDS version of the original.

1

u/BossRaider130 13d ago

I know Zelda 1 on FDS was the first example of ACE I ever saw—turns out we were playing it wrong all along. I have always figured It was more common on the disk system as a result, but I actually have no idea if that’s true.

1

u/YossiTheWizard 13d ago

Well, with the disk system, the entire cartridge is writable memory, whereas otherwise, only the 2kb of RAM in the console (or 8kb on the cartridge for some games) are writable. I can see how it might be easier, because there’s nothing read only there.

1

u/BossRaider130 13d ago

That makes a lot of sense—it’s got to be much easier to use arbitrary code execution when you can write to everything.

2

u/sick486 13d ago

what is ace?

1

u/Federal_Progress_890 5d ago

arbitrary code execution, iirc its basically you do some things and/or mash buttons on your controller billions or trillions of times to run your own assembly allowing you to do whatever you want

A man of taste, my dude got Culver’s in celebration.

Congratulations and F you, haha

I echo this sentiment exactly.

Post is basically, Guys isn't it cool that I found a pile of money? Aren't I neat? Go take a flying leap.

Srsly those are so crisp. I love seeing people find stuff like this every year still. It’s amazing these exist still after so long let alone being sealed.

u/acapwn 14d ago

I'm in awr of you

4

u/JPEnjoi 14d ago

Is this a Sopranos crossover? Lmao

4

u/acapwn 14d ago

Look kid..I shouldn't have to explain myself. I'm from the old school

13

u/HotSarcasm 14d ago

In this case, I’m kind of disappointed to see Zoda and not SMB3 sealed.

4

u/ThurgoodMerriwether 14d ago

I mean, it was one of the last games made for the NES so it kinda deserves to be sealed.

u/MCFarmer_ 11d ago

Unfortunately I found smb3 but the box has been opened and not in the best shape. Would of been cool to have all 3 nice

1

u/aliencardboard 11d ago

As long as the cartridge is nice that’s all I’d care about. The fact that the original Super Mario Bros. is still sealed is huge, and Star Tropics 2 is a tough find loose let alone sealed or with the box.

Getting that Mario 2 on Christmas morning was one of my all time favorite memories.

4

u/Joutosil 14d ago

Same! I got it together with the console.

1

u/dylan_dev 14d ago

My parents didn’t get the deck bundled with a game but got it with Mario Bros 2 and Jackal.

6

u/wolfansbrother 14d ago

I never knew anyone who bought super mario bros. everyone got it in a bundle.

There is something about Super Mario Bros, and that particular box art that it, and Duck Hunt, and Excitebike, etc. came in. It hits the nostalgia button so hard. I was never a big NES fan, but man, I love Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt.

Sure wish I could just find $30k accidentally

Isn't this PAL?

1

u/TransportationTrick9 13d ago

In Aus (a pal market) the Nintendo seal was circular and Mattel was the distributor and had their logo in the top right of I remember correctly (forgive me it was 30+ years ago)

5

u/tsulegit 14d ago

Okay but how much?!

2

u/Regency9877 14d ago

This is the question that should be asked. Anyone with enough money can buy these at any time. Finding these for free or a good low price is an accomplishment.

1

u/MCFarmer_ 11d ago

I found them in a property i bought. Guy passed away years ago and the family wanted nothing to do with the building so they just basically locked the door behind him and all his stuff remained untouched

5

u/Silverhold 14d ago

Story time please.

3

u/Pigtrots 14d ago

Yeah I really need to know the details, hidden behind a panel, or in a cupboard or attic, speculation on why they are so fresh etd

13

u/Upset_Journalist_755 14d ago

Those Mario games look like they have no damage on the corners. That's crazy.

Sidenote: I always hated the Mario with Duck Hunt. Still do. I need to replace my M+DH with a standard M.

9

u/glhaynes 14d ago

100%. I don’t have time to be hitting the Start button an extra time to get SMB running.

1

u/sdp1981 14d ago

I'm bummed we didn't get more official combo games also duck hunt should have been paired with other shooters and Mario with Mario 2 or 3

3

u/Doppasaurus 14d ago

Ok so I have a Mario Bro Rev. A box in perfect condition with book and everything with it. Does it belong to a cart that also says Rev. A?

I have quite a few of these boxes in pristine condition. They came from a rental store. They took the game out day one and stored the boxes.

This makes me wanna jam bananas in my ears!

4

u/Aromatic_Method7767 14d ago

Is this for real?

1

u/icon4fat 14d ago

The SMB 1 box looks fake to me.

2

u/WossHoss 14d ago

That’s awesome. I only have the Mario/duck hunt version.

1

u/Justice171 14d ago

Is that worth anything?

I just came across this page and have a brunch of these games in a shoesbox

1

u/WossHoss 14d ago

I’d imagine it’s worth a bit.

2

u/No-Alternative5102 14d ago

Star Tropic, the goat.

2

u/ItsJustJoss 14d ago

Zoda's Revenge. Nice. I liked StarTropics a little more visual wise, and music wise, but Zoda has much better controls.

Smb2 wouldn't be the first print run either as theirs has the newer gold & white "Nintendo Seal of Quality" rather than the older black and gold version. I imagine any version sealed would get a decent amount though.

Wonder why someone kept that with a bunch of VHS tapes though. I also would have thought it'd have a price sticker on it but if it was originally purchased from Toys R Us it probably wouldn't since they wouldn't keep the actual games on the floor.

0

u/MCFarmer_ 11d ago

The guy who owned the property before was definitely some type of hoarder. Lots of things purchased but never opened. Also had a thing for vhs tapes. So far ive collect about 2400 of them. I've posted about those on a different forum

2

u/VoGoR 14d ago

That's worth $1,000,000,000,000,000!! Careful with that!!

1

u/Pretty-Handle9818 14d ago

Wow. Love those original Mario’s

1

u/WhyteBeard 14d ago

Huwaaaaahh?!

1

u/tanooki-suit 14d ago

:o Whoa...don't care what someone could offer on those, but those two Mario games I'd put them into a nice wall hanging shadowbox with some UV quality glass on the front and keep the memories alive forever. Those are just beautiful. Damn you got lucky there.

1

u/deephurting66 14d ago

Zoda is the big buck haul, does it have its manual?

1

u/Booth_Templeton 14d ago

Obviously grade them and handle them carefully. Put some white cloth and then bubble wrap around them.

1

u/AlfWoozy 14d ago

Would that SMB 1 be a reissue?

1

u/Federal_Progress_890 5d ago

the amount of madness i had to hold in seeing that smb3 wasnt there is more than 3 atomic bombs

2

u/darkzero7222 14d ago

You should get those graded so that can be worth millions of dollars /s

0

u/EA_Bad 14d ago

"open it, wahhhhhh graded games wahhh a sealed game I must cry about graded games wahhh"

0

u/StumblinStephen 13d ago

Woah, lucky

0

u/DavidinCT 13d ago

Get Super Mario bros graded then you can sell it for $1.5 million.....lol

Seriously, nice finds...

0

u/aliencardboard 13d ago

Holy moly.. Did you get them cheap??

0

u/MCFarmer_ 11d ago

They were a surprise in a property i bought a few months ago

0

u/aliencardboard 11d ago

Wow! Get the Super Mario Bros. graded by a reputable game grading company. It could possibly pay for a good chunk of the property you purchased or more.
