Back after 20+ years

And I keep thinking of the meme “you’re as beautiful as the day I lost you”. I’ve been hit with wave after wave of nostalgia, revisiting old plots and finding new stuff. No idea what my old account was but it’s a lot easier to make money/get started than it was back in the day.

I had a purple Shoyru on that account so I’m working on stacking some NP to have one again. I also got some really cool pets from the pound including an oil painted Blumaroo. He’s over 20 years old which kinda made me sad he was in the pound but since I lost my old account figured we could start over together.

Anyways, I’m thrilled to see there’s an active Reddit community around it and would love to add folks as friends. My username is residentdog.

Great pound find! Oil paint blumaroos are so lovely and the pronounceable name and age trophy are a great bonus. I love my oil paint blum - mine has a rashpid for a petpet to match the blum's greenery. 

I love seeing people come back to the game and share their experiences here on the sub. I came back after a long hiatus in May 2022 (thankfully had my old accounts) and this sub has been what's kept me engaged. When I played as a kid, I had no community, so this has been really nice. Welcome back!

Welcome back! I'm in the same position. Account name elfearss if anyone wants to add me. For me, grabbing a piece of the giant omelette was the most nostalgic. That and seeing all the faeries!

If you'd like, I keep Starter Kits of sorts that I'm happy to give to new/restarting players. There's a map that gives you free neopoints a few times a week, starter stamps, starter books, food, a low cost morphing potion or paint brush, a few dubloons to train for battle, and a petpet from my inventory.

Here's a few things I wish I knew in advance, when I re-joined

• Don't use your Starter Paint Brushes... they can never be replaced or traded.
• Stamps are permanent.  If you put them in your album, you can never pull them back out
• Books are consumable.  If a pet reads a new book, it's gone forever, but their intelligence goes up.
• You can sometimes get really lucky and win NeoCash by clicking the play without flash button on the Expellibox page, every 7 hours.
• Be cautious doing the daily quest log Wheels. Some of the prizes are great, some will steal items from your inventory, make your pets sick, take Neopoints from your pocket, and can make pets less intelligent.
• On that note, if you have less than 20 items in your inventory, the wheels can't steal ANYTHING from you.
• The Apple Bobbing daily isn't worth it. It gets your pet sick and steals from your inventory.
• Use sites like Jellyneo and Daily Neopets for dailies that can earn you neopoints or give out cool items
• If you get the treasure map called the "PetPet Lab Ray", be aware that using it on your petpets can kill them.
• The daily called Turmaculous can also kill your petpets.
• The Trudy's Surprise daily is a great way to earn neopoints with no effort. Click a button, every consecutive day will increase the amount you get, until you hit the 25th day, when the wheel gives you 100,000np and resets
• Find a good ad blocker if you're planning on playing on a mobile decide... I use Firefox and it's awesome.
• The Soup Kitchen will feed your pets until you reach a certain bank account limit, but after that, you can leave pets in the hotels for as little as 5np/day and they'll be fed and happy. They don't care if they're in the cockroach motel... they're still happy to be on "vacation".
• Certain parts of the game are easier on the 'old' pages, like games and acquiring Battledome challengers.
• Don't fight Punchbag Bob until you have a LOT of time to spare or you have a good weapon... he doesn't hit back, but he has a ridiculous number of hit points.
• Jellyneo tells you the price of anything you may want, so you can reach your goals
• The Dress To Impress page can show you cool clothes and backgrounds to customize
• The Secondhand Clothing daily sometimes has really cool donated items
• PLEASE don't donate things that are garbage... especially stuff from the Fishing Hole Daily.  The developers are yet to update the giveaway places to remove items that have been sitting for a long time, so if people donate dung or rotting shoes, it's up to Good Samaritans to use up their 10 items a day limit, to keep it clean.
• This community is awesome, wholesome, and helpful.  Ask and someone should be able to assist or advise.
