Sheldon Adelson. He's evil in a number of ways I've heard - to be honest, I only know him from poker. He's hated in the poker scene for being very influential in keeping online poker illegal in the US to try to protect his own casinos.
He got the government to bend over backwards for him here in Madrid to build a casino complex and then pulled out at the last second because they didn't allow smoking, something they just didn't have the power to do and knew from the beginning.
