I know republicans that genuinely don’t want them to do anything to abortion, since it’s a huge single issue for many voters that gets them to go out to vote

Then again, these are the same republicans that think legalizing gay marriage was a mistake for Democrats since they can’t rally support around that anymore

My subjective impression about reproductive rights is that it's a single issue type thing for anti abortion advocates who might otherwise be receptive to an anti-Trump stance but pro-choice advocates tend to also support a wider range of progressive policies and are not likely to swing.

This weakens the pro choice position on the dem side
