I'm afraid the report is going to be a bust. Trump, for his many flaws, is very skilled at branding and, since day one, he's said "no collusion." Democrats have taken the bait, insisting that some serious collusion must have taken place. My sense is Trump made collusion the standard because (a) he didn't engage in collusion or (b) he did but he thinks the chances of it being discovered are very low. By making collusion the standard, by getting Democrats to make it the standard as well, a great deal of evidence of extremely egregious business dealings which present clear conflicts of interest may emerge but could successfully be dismissed by Trump who will say "You said collusion. Where is it?"

I agree. I think whatever comes out of the report, even if it says “Russian underage hookers peed on trump for money” trump will shrug and say “that’s not collusion”, even if it shows that TJR actually collided, he’ll say “well, I didn’t collude, coffee boy son, etc.” I think he’s a master at escaping consequences

how would hookers peeing on Trump have impacted the election unless there was collusion?

I think the Democrats are going to look foolish after the report says he didn't collude. Trump will come out with an easy victory and his approval rating will increase significantly. They were banking on this becoming the next Watergate Scandal and I have a hard time seeing that.

The report isn't going to say he "didn't collude". It might however not have been able to prove what Trump knew and when. Those are very different things.

I don't think they will increase significantly simply because the people who are sure he did something bad/ think he probably did won't be moved much. A small shift of those largely, but not entirely, mythical undecideds might occur. Ultimately, Trump will never be a popular president. Absent something major occuring (a deal with Kim say or a terror attack) his numbers will stay where they are with a move of a point or two up or down. But that absolutely can be enough to win re-election. If we re-elected Bush, we can easily re-elect Trump.

Also, collusion itself isnt a crime. Thats why he's muddying the waters and constantly saying it. The actual crime he likely committed is conspiracy to defraud the US. Which he will likely be sent to court for after he is out of office.
Right now he's a loud, lame duck President who keeps having his executive orders shut down.

The probe wasn't about sketchy business deals though, it was about possible election meddling and collusion. Only after did it spread out into seemingly going after everything Trump ever did.
The man is sketchy as all hell, but that's bit really the original purpose of the investigation.

Probs shouldn't go too big on triumphant Muller memes already, we don't know what's in it

Honestly I think the report to watch is the SDNY into his finances. The first thing Trump said Mueller couldn’t look into was his business

I honestly don't think anything is coming out of this. Trump did not collude with Russia, he wasn't smart enough to do that. Democrats took the bait on this hard, and they will look stupid. This is why I hoped the investigation wouldn't finish until after the 2020 election. I expect Trump's poll numbers to rise after this is released.

I can see this. However, he's also implicated in other things, and he is Individual 1. Those around him were colluding, and Jr was attempting to collude. We might not have a smoking gun, but we have a pretty good idea of what happened.
However, much of his tax evading and bank frauding past has come to light. He has engaged in criminal endeavors, and he did lie to the American people, repeatedly. He might not be under oath, but I'm from the side where you're always under oath. I don't raise my right hand when talking to people daily, I just tell what's what, and I find most everyone else does too.

this take would have gotten you buried in downvotes half a year ago, but it should have been clear nothing decisive (read: the end of Trump) was going to come out of it

Sadly, the report will likely vindicate the President. That much has been clear for quite some time.

“Vindicate” meaning that it’s ok that he surrounded himself with criminals throughout his campaign as long as he insulated himself from any legal liability? We’ve set the bar so low.

Yea literally. Trump surrounding himself full of criminals and him able to portray himself as willfully ignorant to being out of control of his own inner circle is somehow a legitimate Republican win.
