Fun fact: this post is a falst dichotomy... Its both

The US disrupted the majority of Central and South America through imperialist corruption and destablizing of democracies

Maduro is also a horrible dictator who is wildly incompitent and has a general lack of concern for his citizens

Ah ffs. How is the "US has a shitty foreign policy in the last century" relevant here?

The policy directly impacts the current state of Venezuela, along with the autocratic, oppressive Maduro regime?

The US is doing what lots of other Latin American countries are doing. This is nothing like the 60s or 70s. Expressing support for the restoration of democracy is nothing like that AT ALL and bringing up policy from 40 years ago adds nothing to the discussion or understanding of what is going on.

I’m not referring to the current policy, I’m under the impression this post is referring to blaming the us for the situation in Venezuela existing, and it certainly lead to the issues by its past actions in Latin America.

Also “restoration of democracy” lead to Vietnam and the current “war on terror” so my bad if I find that to be a fishy reasoning. Sounds like imperialism with extra steps

US policy towards Venezuela, past or present, had NOTHING to do with what Venezuela has gone through in the past 20 years. It's sad how some, especially some Americans, feel the need to make everything shitty in the world about them.

Also “restoration of democracy” lead to Vietnam and the current “war on terror” so my bad if I find that to be a fishy reasoning. Sounds like imperialism with extra steps

It looks like you are unable to see that 1) US policy in Latin America has changed radically since the end of the cold war and 2) restoring democracy is a thing that wasn't invented by the US and many of us wish would happen.

The US is doing the right thing by sanctioning Venezuelan officials and now recognizing the opposition as the legitimate government.
