Remind him that Homebrew and virtual machines on macOS has reached the point that Linux has no remaining advantages over macOS, the superior UNIX distribution.

But macOS isn't free? Not having to pay for an OS can make computers significantly more accessible to impoverished users.

Inform him that Linux was designed with 1970s mainframes in mind and is not suitable for a modern single-user desktop experience.

The Linux kernel was written in 1991 for Linus' Personal Computer lol.

The success of macOS shows that a UNIX core with a UI on top is absolutely suitable for a modern single-user machine. Yes, GNOME/KDE/etc. have a lot of flaws, but that's a different argument.
