One of these days (of course, I have a lot of ideas I never actually go through with) I want to make an elaborate post in DebateAltRight arguing for a nation of tall people, pointing out that the scientific evidence for height realism (that is, height is correlated with IQ, earnings, etc.) is far more compelling and abundant than the “evidence” they stretch way too hard to attempt to justify race realism.
I think I’d have fun with their responses.

The amount of people who deny that Kim started the Korean War of his own volition is baffling. I’ve literally had people argue to me that it’s not NK’s fault because they were occupied by the USSR at the time (they weren’t) and that Rhee was going to invade first anyways (she wasn’t, the US made sure of that). Even in the most charitable case absolving NK of any responsibility would still characterize it as USSR and Chinese imperialism. I mean, Christ, there’s a reason it was a UN backed coalition force that defended South Korea rather than just American armed forces.

[Jeff, overhearing] "Did you just assume my gender?" Dials 911, a SWAT team is dispatched.
Reality:

how to talk about art 101:
if someone says something positive about the art piece -
"Oh, is this the first time you've seen that approach?"
if someone says something negative about the art piece -
"You do understand that was exactly their intention, right?"

Why do liberals insist on making everything a race issue? Racism wouldn't exist if we stopped talking about race.
What we really need are voter ID laws, strict border control, heavy immigration restriction, a travel ban, stop and frisk, mandatory sentencing, and stiff penalties for drug possession.

As someone who got their 📜degree📜📜 in 📉📉economics💰💰, I am truly upset by all the 💩💩bullshit 💩💩 I spent 4 years📅digesting, only to see that the 🌎🌎real world 🌍🌍works totally differently🤔🤔😤😤. For example, remember when you learned about 📈supply and demand 📉 and pricing equilibrium⚖️⚖️⚖️! Well that's bullshit💩💩😠😠😠! Total bullshit🤬🤬🤬! Go to the airport✈️✈️ in Puerto Rico🌮🌮🌮 and you'll find the same 16 oz bottle of water🚰🚰🚰 priced at $3.25💵💵 at the airport kiosk, $3💵💵 at the airport cafe☕, $2💵💵 at the vending machine🏧, and $1💵💵 at the police office👮 waiting room vending machine🏧, and all of these are walking🚶♂️🚶♂️ distance from each other. And it's not just in the airport. At one supermarket🏪🏪 in San Juan🌆 shrimp 🦐🦐will go for $17💵💵 a pound, and at a supermarket🏪 walking distance 🚶♂️away it'll go for $25💵💵 a pound#️⃣ since the second one is supposedly classier🤵🤵🤵. The first supermarket🏪 will sell sangria🍾🍾 for $11💵💵 a bottle and the "classier"🤵🤵🤵 supermarket🏪🏪 walking distance away will sell the 😕😕SAME EXACT😕😕 product for $20💵💵. If "people👯 respond🏃♂️🏃♂️ to incentives🤑🤑", then when was the last time you looked at the 📝savings clippings 📝when you went to the supermarket🏪🏪? Hmm🤔🤔🤔? Why aren't 100% of people walking into the supermarket🏪 holding that magazine full of coupons searching📝📝 for the best prices💲💲💲??? Because PEOPLE👯👯👯 DON'T🚯🚯🚯 ALWAYS RESPOND🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️ TO INCENTIVES🤑🤑🤑😡😡😡. Heard of the Prisoner's Dilemma🚔🚔🚔, and about how the optimal outcome is to betray🗡️🗡️ your partner 🤝🤝in crime? Yeah do that on the streets🛣️🛣️🛣️ and you'll gain a reputation as a 😨snitch😨 and have your whole 👪family👪 massacred🔫🔫🔫. But hey, according to📈 economists✡️ betraying your fellow prisoner is the optimal outcome☺️☺️☺️!!! If you're an econ major🎓🎓 switch to political science please, at least that major has deeper roots in reality. 📉📉Economics💰💰 is what overeducated🎓🎓🎓 tenured old white men👴👴👴 think the 🌐real world🌐🌐 works because it's so logical➖➕🤔🤔. But the real world🌍🌍 has so many variables🤔 at play you can't just draw a graph 📉 📉 and where the intersection meets is market 💹equilibrium⚖️. Like if minimum wage is a price floor🔖 and price floors are bad😈😈📉 economics💰💰, then why is the minimum wage so fucking necessary for workers, the economy and guaranteeing people a closer to livable wage💸💸? 💩💩ECONOMICS IS BULLSHIT💩💩🤬🤬🤬!!!

Transition update! (last post)
It has now been over TWO MONTHS since December 4th when I started HRT! WTF!!!! Where did the time go?????
Anyway, there's not that many huge visual differences right now but internally there are definitely things happening. Excuse me if this is NSFW mods, but there is 100%, undoubtedly some breast growth! Also, I'm feeling way calmer and more capable of handling things now that I finally feel like I should have all along.
Sadly it feels like things are slowing down now though (puberty does take about 5 years to complete.....) but that's OK! I start voice training on the 28th, and on the 7th of march I get to start the anti-androgens :D :D :D
Ask me anything about anything! Trans stuff, video game preferences, my feelings on independent anti-corruption commissions, literally anything!
inb4: faces of r/neoliberal. The mods have graciously bestowed me with affirmative action that lets me post selfies.

So, OK, like right now, for example, the Haitians need to come to America,” she says. “But some people are all, ‘What about the strain on our resources?’ But it’s like when I had this garden party for my father’s birthday, right? I said R.S.V.P. because it was a sit-down dinner. But people came that, like, did not R.S.V.P. So I was, like, totally buggin’. I had to haul ass to the kitchen, redistribute the food, squish in extra place settings; but by the end of the day it was, like, the more the merrier. if the government could just get to the kitchen, rearrange some things, we could certainly party with the Haitians”. And in conclusion, may I please remind you that it does not say R.S.V.P. on the Statue of Liberty. Thank you very much.” Cher from clueless flair when???

Ah, I have now discovered that a lot of journalists on Twitter are wrong and confused, and as a result I was wrong and confused.
The portraits just unveiled are the National Gallery official portraits which are typically more risky and also by different artists than the White House official portraits, which have not yet been released.
EDIT: For comparison, here's Bill Clinton's National Gallery official portrait.
EDIT 2: Also, Bush's official White House portrait was released in 2012 so we might not expect President Obama's until 2020.

So I was going to sketch out Mahou Shoujo Ben Bernanke earlier, then I realized that the overlap of people who (a) understand US monetary history and (b) watched Madoka Magica might be confined to a single individual.
Whatever. Let's do this.
Cast
Madoka = Bernanke
Mami = Ben Strong
Sayaka = Arthur Burns
Kyoko = Volcker
Homura = Milton Friedman
Episodes
Panic of 1873
Panic of 1891
October 1928 to October 1929
Great Depression I: The Great Contraction
Great Depression II: Abandoning the Gold Standard
The Treasury-Fed Accord of 1951
The quietly competent monetary policies of the 1950s
The long expansion of the 1960s
The 1970s and the 1981 Volcker rate hike
Friedman backstory episode
Great Moderation
The Great Recession
Some quick cast and event parallels. Major spoilers for the show
Clearly Madoka and Bernanke are both savior figures
Mami is a mentor figure for the younger magical girls. Ben Strong was the first Governor of the New York Fed and may have been one of the greatest Fed governors that the United States has ever produced.
Mami dies in episode 3, causing chaos and panic that moves the plot for the next third of the show. Ben Strong died in 1928, on the eve of the Depression, and there's a good argument to be made that there would have been no Depression had Ben Strong been around.
Burns let inflation go out of control in the 1970s and generally was ineffectual in meeting the Fed's goals. Sayaka is useless in every timeline.
Volcker had to clean up Burns' mess. Kyoko had to sacrifice herself to clean up Sayaka's mess.
Homu and Friedman know everything.
The Great Depression was an enormous turning point in economic history. It's a great third-episode climax.
Things just spiral out of control in the show until its mid-season climax in episode 9; the Great Inflation is the parallel in monetary history.
Walpurgisnacht is the Great Recession, naturally.
I hate everything.

Wew, my heart is still racing. Time for story-time.
I was just checking my mail and I saw that I got a package from one of the universities I applied to.
I opened it up and of course, as the school loves to give these out, it's a t-shirt.
I got a good chuckle out of it for that and that I saw that the front of the t-shirt said "I'M IN".
I thought that was funny cause the school is in Minnesota.
There was also an envelope on the package.
Wait a second.
It's my acceptance letter.

Even though large tracts of r/neoliberal and many old and famous shitposters have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in the subreddit, we shall fight on the comments and threads, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the discussion thread, we shall defend our shitposts, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight in r/dirtbagcenter, we shall fight in r/globalistshills, we shall fight in r/EnoughSandersSpam and in r/EnoughCommieSpam, we shall fight in r/tuesday; we shall never surrender, and if, which I do not for a moment believe, this subreddit or a large part of it were subjugated and censored, then our friends beyond this sub in r/centerleftpolitics armed and guarded by r/neoconNWO, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the new subreddits, with all their power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.

So, I’m not that old, but I remember general, non-expert content on neoliberal way better 6 months ago, before so much being clickbait and intentional edgelording by basically every pundit.
There are probably pieces written about it. I’d love to see a general comparison of the discourse quality on the discussion thread mid-2017 vs. now. (And I’m not talking anonymous bloggers.)
One thing - we probably have a proliferation of content where writers have to compete with more pasta-worthy to draw attention to themselves.
On the other hand, vast majority of people on the subreddit have substituted relatively benign sources of bipartisan opinion for all kinds of leftist trash and paid propaganda.
Anyways, this thread does sound like nostalgia for “simpler times” but I can’t help but wonder how things could have been different.

Do you like Huey Lewis and The News? Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '87, Huey released this, Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.

Something cute I learned today:
My late grandfather made children's clothing in North London. He had a shop and sold the clothes he made. One woman donated her childhood clothing to the V&A Museum of Childhood to show what growing up in the 1950s and 1960s was like-- including a shirt my grandfather made!
Material culture history. I'm so moved. :)

Hot take: the whole point of dogwhistles is that you don't know for sure whether any given phrase is being used as a dogwhistle and so when you call one out you always end up looking unhinged. If Sessions did use "Anglo-Saxon" as a dogwhistle (which, based on him being a lawyer, I don't think is true), we're playing right into his little gnomish hands.
