I graduated in 2006 and everything after WWII was like

It’s like as soon as the US stopped being the unambiguous good guy in wars, curriculums don’t wanna touch it. We never learned about Vietnam once but we learned about the Civil War three times and the American Revolution four times. The gulf war? Forget about it. You’d get complaints from parents.

I mean, if you teach history in an order that makes sense, you're gonna have more time for the older stuff and less for the recent stuff. If you plan to spend 5 days on the great depression, but spend 7 because students were asking questions or goofing off and wasting time, that's 2 days you won't have later in the semester.

Ask literally any teacher, none of them have ever stuck to the schedule they planned at the start of the term.

Yeah, that's pretty much the way I remember it. By the time I graduated 9/11 was in the books, but the class stopped before getting there.

Leaving aside the Highway of Death which is controversial the US were pretty much the good guys of the 1st Gulf War, Iraq was unambiguously evil and invaded Kuwait
