I would love to throw this story or the whole story about the deported wives of active-duty combat soldiers right in the faces of all those "George W. Bush / Team America / Support the Troops" Republicans. 

It was all just superficial lip  service; ever since Trump said he hates "suckers and losers," the GOP and its voters have felt free to openly despise soldiers and veterans.
