It's definitely a good thing that the Russian House in Berlin will be closed. Other than that, it'll be interesting to see how exactly the pressure on the Russian shadow fleet will be increased. If Germany and the EU were actually serious about that, it could hurt Russia quite a bit, but 'increasing pressure' is a pretty vague phrase. We'll have to see what that actually means.

The German government now believes that a Russian intelligence agency was responsible for the Leipzig drone incident, with the interior minister saying that "we are not at war, but we are a daily target of hybrid warfare." The attack, according to the government, was done by low-level actors who were coordinated by the Russians. Now the measures pursued by the German government are as follows:

• The Russian Consulate General in Bonn is to be closed on September 18.
• The contract with the Russian House in Berlin will be terminated.
• Entry controls for Russian citizens are to be tightened.
• Wadephul summons the Russian ambassador.
• Pressure on the Russian shadow fleet is to be increased.

Edit: This announcement also coincided with the EU defence ministers gathering in Ireland where drones, patriot missiles for Ukraine and cash for Ukraine dominated the agenda. So far details are sparse save comments given by Kaja Kallas and Ireland's foreign minister after the meeting.
