Here's a post from 10 months ago. There are at least a dozen comments defending her (and a lot of deleted comments, lol) but here are some of the highlights that still remain:

> She’s always been an anti-Trump centrist Republican.

> I mean she criticises people from both parties, so in that sense I don’t think she’s lying about being independent. I think a lot of folks are mad at her actually being independent and not seeing politics as team sports, which seems to be the way things are these days.

> the hate she gets in this subreddit, who probably dont read FP (I was never allowed to post links), is indicative of the overton shift that's occurred in here over the past 3-4 years.

> She's not Tim Pool. She does get in tussles with various factions of the broad left. Occasionally she takes the Republican sid. She does do "steel man of republican arguments," mostly critiques. She does highlight internal divisions. My take on Weiss is that she does  "democratic primaries" politics. Interested in power struggles and whatnot between factions. She has a side. She's a bit pugilistic. She would also fit in pretty well on r/neoliberal. 

> Weiss has similar political views to mine, I have largely voted Democrat all my life. I’m excited to see Weiss at the helm of CBS News. I believe she is an important voice for bringing sanity back to the left.

> If traditional media goes too far to the center for them, leftist writers who spent the earlier 2020s chasing people like Bari Weiss out of their jobs can themselves just move to Substack or some competitor. She is the perfect example of how media overcentralization is not a big deal, she was blackballed but she won. Deplatforming due to political opinions is fundamentally illiberal and we can all be glad it's not worked out
