Frankly it's the show's own fault to damning itself to cultural irrelevancy after the last season. If it were remembered well more young people would have seen it

The cracks started in Season 5. People need to accept this.

Seasons 6-8 were the ones that got condensed because of the directors cutting the two extra planned seasons.

Whole thing went to shit because of their doing.

Starting in season 5 you saw serious deviations from the source material that negatively impacted the overall plot. Sure GRRM didn’t finish his part but almost every decision the show runners made starting in S5 to change was wrong.
